A personal watercraft comprises a deck having coupled thereto a hull defining a bottom wall, a rear wall and a water intake extending from the bottom wall to the rear wall, and a jet propulsion system. The jet propulsion system comprises a housing coupled to the rear wall and defining an inlet to receive water from the water intake, a venturi, and an outlet to expel the water, and comprises a rim-driven motor disposed within the housing between the inlet and the venturi. The rim-driven motor defines a center axis and comprises a stator coupled to the housing, a rotor disposed radially inwardly of the stator relative to the center axis, and impeller blades coupled to the rotor and projecting towards the center axis, the rotor and the impeller blades rotatable about the center axis to draw the water via the inlet and expel the water via the outlet.

JET DRIVE MARINE ENGINE MAINTENANCE TOOL
20230278183 · 2023-09-07 ·

A multipurpose maintenance tool for a mechanical assembly. The tool includes a central body and an elongated shank extending in a longitudinal direction from the central body to a lever end. A foreign object removing element has a foreign body engaging surface. The element extends from the central body generally opposite the shank. A fastener engaging formation is formed on the shank, the removing element, and/or the central body. The formation is sized and shaped for engaging a fastener on the assembly to selectively tighten and loosen the fastener. A lateral extension extends from the central body to span an opening in the assembly and engage opposite margins adjacent the opening. As the shank is pivoted about the extension, the removal surface pivots about the lateral extension in a direction corresponding to the angular direction of the shank to dislodge foreign objects from the opening in the assembly.

Hydrojet propulsion system

A personal watercraft is disclosed including a flotation portion, a strut extending from the flotation portion, and a motor pod is disposed along the strut with an electric motor operably coupled to a driveshaft. A hydrojet unit is removably attached to the motor pod and includes an inlet portion removably attached to the motor pod and a substantially cylindrical housing. The inlet portion includes a substantially conical motor interface with a shaft through-hole for receiving the driveshaft therein, one or more fins extending outwardly from the conical motor interface, and at least one ring encircling the conical motor interface and connecting to each of the one or more fins for inhibiting objects from passing through the inlet region. The housing defines a fluid flow path to an outlet portion. The hydrojet unit includes an impeller coupled to the driveshaft and a stator disposed within the housing.

MARINE VEHICLE WITH SUBMERSIBLE ELECTRIC THRUSTER

An electrically-propelled marine vehicle and method of making same, including providing a hull of the marine vehicle and mounting a submersible electric thruster to the hull. The thruster includes a stator assembly and a rotor assembly. The rotor assembly forms an internal cavity with a plurality of magnets arranged radially outwardly of the internal cavity. The stator assembly includes electrical windings that are disposed within the internal cavity of the rotor assembly. The thruster is configured to allow the internal cavity to be flooded with water when the thruster is submerged, and the electrical windings are covered by a protective barrier that prevents the flooded water from contacting the windings. The thruster of the marine vehicle is thus water cooled, and the electromotive forces provided by the windings generate sufficient thrust to propel the marine vehicle through the water.
