The control unit is also operable to generate machine control signals as a function of position signals and force signals in dependence upon the value FD, for communication to the machine.

PILOT ACTIVATED TRIM FOR FLY-BY-WIRE AIRCRAFT

A fly-by-wire aircraft and method of flying a fly-by-wire aircraft is disclosed. The aircraft includes a control system for flying the aircraft in one of a proportional ground control mode and a model following controls mode. A control device at a control interface of the aircraft selectively activates a trim follow up function in the control system. When flying the aircraft in a proportional ground control mode, trim follow up function can be activated. The control system can then transition into the model following controls mode with the trim follow up function activated to reduce transient behavior.

An electromechanical actuator comprising a body and an electric motor driving at least one motion transmission element connected to the body via a brake device, a mechanical torque limiter with rollers, and a unidirectional transmission member, the brake device including an electrical activator member so that when the activator member is powered, the unidirectional transmission member is released relative to the body, and when the activator member is not powered, the unidirectional transmission member is secured to the body and opposes pivoting of the transmission element in one direction of rotation up to a maximum transmissible torque defined by the torque limiter.

Aircraft ground lift dump flight control function

A flight control system for an aircraft includes at least one flight control computer that carries out a ground lift dump function that selectively extends a spoiler located on a wing of the aircraft into an airflow passing over the wing. The at least one flight control computer includes arming logic that is responsive to an input signal indicative of an aircraft parameter to automatically arm the ground lift dump function during certain phases of operation of the aircraft. The at least one flight control computer includes spoiler deployment logic that is responsive to an arming signal from the aiming logic which indicates that the ground lift function is armed to deploy the spoiler into its extended position within the airflow passing over the wing of the aircraft to assist in stopping the aircraft while the aircraft is on the ground.

Air vehicles, fly-by wire systems, and method for preemptive mitigation of turbulence are provided. An air vehicle includes a flight control surface, a sensor, and a controller. The sensor is configured to determine a velocity of an air mass that is separated from the air vehicle by a predetermined distance. The controller is communicatively coupled with the sensor and is configured to determine whether the air mass will disturb smooth flight of the air vehicle. The controller is further configured to manipulate the flight control surface in response to determining that the air mass will disturb smooth flight of the air vehicle.

Zoom Climb Prevention System for Enhanced Performance

A vehicle, such as an airplane sets a limit for a control variable used to deflect a control surface. The limit is set as a function of an unfavorable flight condition/target angle of attack and a rate of change of angle of attack so that a pilot control variable command is prevented from exceeding the limit to prevent the vehicle from reaching an unfavorable flight condition and/or exceeding a desired angle of attack limit.
