OBLIQUE ROTOR-WING AIRCRAFT
An oblique rotor-wing aircraft may be capable of vertical take-off and landing, subsonic cruise, transonic cruise, and/or supersonic cruise. The oblique rotor-wing aircraft may comprise one or more of a fuselage, a rotor-wing, a thrust-vectored propulsion system, a locking mechanism, and/or other components. The rotor-wing may be rotatably coupled to the fuselage. The rotor-wing may rotate about an axis in a first flight mode for vertical takeoff and landing. The oblique rotor-wing aircraft may include a thrust-vectored propulsion system that drives the rotation of the rotor-wing about the axis. The thrust-vectored propulsion system may include multiple, separately operable propulsion systems coupled to the rotor-wing and/or the fuselage. The oblique rotor-wing aircraft may comprise a locking mechanism that locks the rotor-wing at an angle oblique to the fuselage responsive to initiation of a second flight mode. The rotor-wing may be fixed at an angle oblique to the fuselage during the second flight mode.

Apparatus and method for roll moment equalization at high advance ratios for rotary wing aircraft
A method for equalizing rolling moments at high advance ratios is disclosed including impelling an aircraft in a forward direction at an airspeed by means of a thrust source and rotating a rotor of the aircraft at an angular velocity with respect to the airspeed effective to cause a positive total lift on each blade due to air flow over the blades in the retreating direction when the blade is moving in the retreating direction. The rotor includes an even number of blades placed at equal angular intervals around the rotor hub. One or both of cyclic pitch and rotor angle of attack are adjusted such that a rolling moment of the retreating blade due to reverse air flow is between 0.3 and 0.7 times a rolling moment on the advancing blade due to lift.

Aircraft
An aircraft is provided that is convertible in flight between a rotary wing configuration and a fixed wing configuration. In its fixed wing configuration the aircraft resembles a Blended Wing Body (BWB) having a swept wing angle . Conversions from the fixed wing configuration to the rotary wing configuration, and vice versa, are accomplished by flipping an outboard portion of one wing through 180 to reorient the leading edge of the outboard portion by an angle of 2 to establish a reverse sweep. In its rotary configuration, the entire aircraft is rotated.
