An example system comprises a water-soluble unit dose article comprising a fibrous non-woven sheet shaped to form a sealed internal compartment and a granular laundry detergent comprised within the internal compartment. The sheet comprises fibres which comprise polyvinyl alcohol polymer. The granular laundry detergent comprises perfume particles. The system also comprises sealing jaws, whereby at least one of the sealing jaws is a heated sealing jaw. A top seal of the internal compartment is sandwiched between the jaws. A first of said jaws comprises a protruding portion along a longitudinal direction of the seal. The protruding portion has a base along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the seal. The base has a dimension of more than 3 times and of less than 20 times a thickness of the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BIODEGRADABLE PILLOW TEA BAGS CONTAINING WHOLE LEAF TEA
A biodegradable whole leaf pillow tea bag is provided, along with a system and method for manufacturing biodegradable whole leaf pillow tea bags. The method for manufacturing the whole leaf pillow tea bags includes the steps of providing a biodegradable infusion substrate having two opposing edge; creating a sleeve from the biodegradable infusion substrate by infusing the two opposing edges of the substrate together and closing the sleeve at its bottom; placing whole leaf tea in the bottom of the sleeve; vertically feeding the sleeve containing the whole leaf tea into a heat sealing machine that will, at predetermined intervals create heat seals across the sleeve to create pillow bags; cutting the pillow bags from one another across the heat seal. In one example, the biodegradable infusion substrate may contain hemp and/or the whole leaf tea may be infused with CBD oil or other supplements. The same method of manufacturing may be used to create a biodegradable pillow bag containing coffee.
Flat-Bottom Stand-Up Bag, Vertical Form, Fill, And Seal System And Methodology For Utilizing The Same
A vertical form fill and seal system supports a sheet of material having material segments and a tube sized for drawing edges of the elongated sheet of material together in an overlapping configuration to form the sheet into a substantially tube shape. The VFFS also includes a sealer that seals the edges of the material to one another and a gusseting mechanism sized for forming a gusseted tuck in each of a left panel portion of the material and a right panel portion of the material. A cutting mechanism removes a first portion and a second portion of a first segment of the material segments in order to form a first cut and a second cut in the first segment and a sealing mechanism folds and seals the first segment at the first cut and at the second cut to provide an end wall with a substantially flat, rectangular-shaped footprint.
BOTTOM-GUSSETED PACKAGE AND HEAT-SEALING METHOD
A bottom-gusseted package comprises a package body, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the bottom-gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, with each individual sleeve positioned to form a bottom gusset in a respective package. Cooperating heat-sealing jaws, including cooperating U-shaped sealing surfaces, act to integrate and seal each individual sleeve with the flexible web to form the bottom gusset of each package, with the heat-sealing jaws preferably configured to include cooperating top sealing surfaces for simultaneously forming a top seal in an adjacent one of the packages.
Method and Apparatus for Sealing Film Bags
An adjustable sealing apparatus and corresponding method of use is disclosed. The sealing apparatus has a variable range of motion programmed to accommodate multiple types of sealing motion, including the reciprocal motion and rotary motion. The proposed design uses two sealing jaw units with each sealing jaw unit located on opposing sides of a continuous layered film. Each sealing jaw unit has a sealing jaw coupled to a distal end of extendable linkages. The sealing jaws are extendable to allow the sealing surfaces to engage one another at a plurality of sealing locations along a plurality of sealing paths. Moreover a control unit is communicatively coupled to each of the sealing jaw units and controls movement of the sealing jaw units to engage one another at one or more of the plurality of sealing locations which enables sealing of the film to produce bags.
DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR FOR CLOSING A TOP PORTION OF A FOOD CONTAINER, CONSISTING OF A LAMINATE WITH A PEELED AND FOLDED-BACK EDGE REGION
The invention relates to a device comprising a first fixing element, comprising a first fixing surface, a further fixing element, comprising a further fixing surface, and a folded planar composite, at least partially fixed between the first fixing surface and the further fixing surface; wherein the folded planar composite comprises a first composite region and a further composite region; wherein the first composite region comprises a first layer sequence, comprising, from the further fixing surface to the first fixing surface, a first composite layer, a second composite layer, a third composite layer and a fourth composite layer; wherein the further composite region comprises a further layer sequence, comprising, from the further fixing surface to the first fixing surface, the first composite layer, the second composite layer and the fourth composite layer; wherein the first composite layer comprises a first carrier layer, the second composite layer a second carrier layer, the third composite layer a third carrier layer, and the fourth composite layer a fourth carrier layer; wherein, in the first composite region, the first or the fourth carrier layer or each of both is characterised by a greater layer thickness than the second or the third carrier layer or each of both and in the further composite region the second carrier layer is characterised by a greater layer thickness than in the first composite region; wherein the further fixing surface comprises a recess and the first composite region and the further composite region are each at least partially located between the recess and the first fixing surface.
Rotatable sealing jaw assembly for a form, fill and seal machine
A form, fill and seal machine includes a support frame having an L-shaped track with first and second track portions. A sealing jaw assembly includes first and second guides moveable along the track from a first position, wherein the first and second guides are positioned in the first track portion, to a second position, wherein the first and second guides are positioned in the second track portion. The sealing jaw assembly is rotated 90 degrees as the first and second guides are moved from the first position to the second position. A method of converting a form, fill and seal machine from a first configuration to a second configuration is also provided.
