Container for smokeless tobacco products

A container adapted for storing a product is provided. The container includes a body having a bottom wall and a side wall. The bottom wall and the side wall define an internal storage compartment adapted for storage of a plurality of units of a product. The side wall has an outer peripheral surface. A rib structure is engaged with the body about the outer peripheral surface of the side wall and extends outwardly therefrom. A cover is configured to be removably engaged with the body. The cover includes a top wall and a peripheral flange having an inner surface. The inner surface is substantially smooth and is configured to interact with the rib structure when the cover is received over the outer peripheral surface of the side wall so as to form an interference fit.

The current invention provides a container, a lid, a combination of the two, and a method of using the same. The container has a base and a sidewall extending upward from the base forming a continuous sidewall around the base. The upper portion of the sidewall has a rim and a skirt around the perimeter. The skirt has a removable tear tab to allow access to a lid for removing the lid from the container. The lid also has vents for air to exit the container, thereby preventing rising of the lid in low pressure areas. The vents further prevent entry of air into the container when the sealed container is taken to areas of higher pressure. A method of filling the container leaving an air gap between the product and the lid and utilizing the aforementioned vents is also provided.

A bowl has a bottom wall, a pair of opposite concave walls and a pair of opposite convex walls extending from the bottom wall. The lid has a pair of convex handles and a pair of concave handles. The bowl has a pair of concave handles. The lid has a plurality of tabs formed near the convex handles and the concave handles of the lid. A pair of ribs are formed on an underside of the lid adjacent the concave handles of the lid. The lid and bowl can be assembled in a steaming configuration, a baking configuration or an inverted lid configuration. Apertures are formed between the lid and bowl for venting and straining.

Sealing member for packaging

The present disclosure provides components of packaging that is adapted for storing a product including a container having a body and a cover. The body and the cover define an internal storage compartment adapted for storage of a product. The body is configured to interact with the cover so as to form a joint when engaged. A sealing member is configured to substantially cover the joint, wherein the material of the sealing member is continuous and uninterrupted, thus limiting moisture loss from a product within the internal storage compartment. The sealing member is further configured to tear in a direction that is substantially parallel to the joint of the container.
