Probiotics, referred to as the beneficial bacteria, and prebiotics, referred to as the beneficial fiber work together to stabilize a pet's digestive system, promote good bacteria growth, and a healthy immune system.

ANIMAL FEED COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING MURAMIDASE AND USES THEREOF

The present invention relates to animal feed compositions comprising polypeptides having muramidase activity and uses thereof. In the Examples it is shown that feeding muramidase to broiler chicken increased apparent ileal digestibility of crude protein and crude fat.

ANIMAL FEED COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING MURAMIDASE AND USES THEREOF

The present invention relates to animal feed compositions comprising polypeptides having muramidase activity and uses thereof. Feeding broilers with feed comprising muramidase resulted in a dose-dependent increase of blood carotenoids. Administration of the supplemented feed could likewise increase blood levels of zeaxanthin, lutein, vitamin A, vitamin E and sialic acid.

Proposed is a formed meat composition comprising additives, a process for producing a formed meat slug and a combined meat/formed meat slug. It is a disadvantage of established dried formed meat compositions that they require stabilizing desiccants and/or have an unnatural, open-pored fine structure. The novel solution proposed is a formed meat composition which, in addition to prey animal meat, glycerol and salt, merely contains additives in the form of prey animal nutriment. Also proposed is a process for producing a formed meat slug in which a common comminution of meat and additives in a manner modelled on hunting is carried out. Finally proposed is a combined meat/formed meat slug which comprises in its primary constituents only animal meat ingredients and the recited additives. The claimed subject matter provides the particular advantage that, despite additives, a denser, more stable and closed fine structure is achieved.

Method for Producing Pet Dental Treat

A pet dental treat includes an outer shell constituting a dense, solid shell which keeps the dog occupied while the dog's teeth sink into a soft, chewy porous inner core, potentially coated on exposed surface(s) such as with a bio-active compound, to scrape tartar and remove plaque from the dog's teeth, including hard-to-reach teeth, thereby helping to maintain the oral health of the dog while also reducing bad breath. The pet dental treat has a cross-section visually resembling a tooth and includes a longitudinal slot defining an integral pocket having in-turned retaining elements at an entrance to the slot, with the pocket provided to selectively retain a functional, edible additive insert, such as a vitamin, medicinal item or the like insert, to be given to the pet, with the retaining elements preventing the edible insert from inadvertently falling out of the pocket.
