Packaging for transporting and/or storing radioactive material, comprising a more effective corner shock absorber

Packaging for transporting and/or storing radioactive material, comprising a packaging body which defines therein a cavity for housing radioactive material, and at least one shock absorber which is mounted on the outside of the packaging body, which has an outer surface provided with at least one first outer surface and one second outer surface which are separated by an edge that is covered by the shock absorber. The absorber comprises a metal damping structure comprising a first recess having an imaginary straight line extending therethrough, the line passing through both a center of gravity of the packaging and a point on the edge, a second recess arranged so as to face one of the outer surfaces, and a metal wall for absorbing shocks by plastic deformation. The wall is at least 5 mm thick and defines the first and second recesses on either side thereof.

Method of using a corner board protector

A method of using a corner board protector to protect a corner on a palletized stack of containers. The method includes the steps of forming a one piece, corner board locator having a connection portion and an insert portion, and the corner board locator having an opening formed therethrough. Positioning the insert portion between two vertically aligned containers of the palletized stack of containers. Forming a corner board having two angled panels and a length. Inserting the two angled panels through the opening formed in the corner board locator to retain the corner board at a select height relative to the palletized stack of containers.

Buffering member

A buffering member is interposed between an outer corner of a packaged article and an inner corner of a packaging box. The buffering member includes a base sheet and a plurality pairs of blocks. The base sheet is foldable along a folding line. The plurality of pairs of blocks are arranged along the folding line at predetermined intervals. Each block of the pair of blocks is bonded on one face and the other face of the base sheet on both side of the folding line. The pair of blocks is combined via a combined face so as to meet the outer corner when the base sheet is folded along the folding line. At least one of the combined faces is provided on the one face of the base sheet and another combined face is provided on the other face of the base sheet.

PACKAGING CORNER PROTECTION SYSTEM
20180072479 · 2018-03-15 ·

A packaging corner protecting device includes an arcuate center portion having a length and having first thickness and formed as 270 of a cylinder more or less. A first arm extends substantially the length of the cylinder and has a cross section tapering from the first thickness at a proximate end to a second smaller thickness at a distal end thereof and is integrally joined to the center portion at a first end of the surface of the cylinder. A second arm extends substantially the length of the cylinder and has a cross section tapering from the first thickness at a proximate end to the second smaller thickness at a distal end thereof and is integrally joined to the center portion at a second end of the surface of the cylinder. The arms each have substantially flat inner surfaces that lie in planes intersecting the axis of the cylinder.

CORNER PIECE FOR PACKAGING
20180022525 · 2018-01-25 ·

A corner piece is provided for forming packaging elements. The corner piece includes an inner member and an outer member having respective apexes. A connecting member connects the inner and outer members and substantially aligns their apexes, while spacing the inner and outer members apart from one another. A securing element is provided in the outer member for securing an exterior edge protector along the outer member. The securing element includes substantially U-shaped retaining walls engageable with the exterior edge protector. In some embodiments, the spacing between the inner and outer members defines retaining cavities for securing adjacent sidewalls of a storage container.

Edge protector with extended adhesive top layer and release liner
12187519 · 2025-01-07 · ·

An edge protector including a main body for installation on a box or package for protection and reinforcement. The edge protector includes first and second legs and a cover layer that extends over the outer surface of both of the first and second legs. An attachment portion of the cover layer extends over the outer edge of each leg and is retained along an inner surface of the leg on a release liner. During use, the attachment portions are both released from the release liner on the inner surface of the first and second legs such that an adhesive on the attachment portion can be used to attach the edge protector to a package or product.

PAPERBOARD CORNER, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
20170341333 · 2017-11-30 ·

The invention concerns an elongated protective corner for the transport and/or packaging of products. The corner has at least two non-corrugated paperboard plies combined together to create two perpendicular wings and an apex The plies form multiple ply sections, and at least one of the ply sections of a given ply overlaps another ply section of the same ply. This overlapping arrangement gives the apex a resistance force of about 100 to about 500 lbs. The thickness of the corner can vary, with each wing being in the range of about 100 to about 250 points, and each ply is made from paperboard having a grammage of about 120 to about 380 g/m.sup.2. The resistance force can be determined by mounting the corner upon two blocks, and applying a force to the apex at a middle of the corner until a fracture is detected.

Packing box

A packing box is disclosed. The packing box includes a box body having an inward concave forming four blocking portions at four sides, and a plurality of supporting members. The supporting member includes a big head end and a small head end fixedly connecting to the blocking portions. The small head end is arranged above an up surface of the blocking portion. A bottom surface of the big head end comprises an inward concave, the small head end of the supporting member of the packing box located at a lower altitude engages with the big head end of the supporting member of the packing box located at a higher altitude when the packing boxes are stacked.

Method of using a corner board protector

A method of using a corner board protector including the steps of positioning a one piece, corner board locator having a connection portion, having an angled slot formed therein, and an insert portion, having a single continuous planar exterior edge with a tip, on a corner board having two angled panels. The two angled panels engage with the angled slot to retain the corner board locator at a select height along the corner board. The corner board and the corner board locator are positioned adjacent to a stack of at least two vertically consecutive containers. The tip of the single continuous planar exterior edge is slid between two of the at least two vertically consecutive containers to form a corner board protector.
