Profile Extrusion Process For Producing Shaped Pet Food
The invention relates to a profile extrusion process for producing fashioned animal food, especially dog chew bones, the process comprising the following steps: loading an extruder with casein, a plasticizer and with additives; preparing a plasticized casein compound containing 10 to 80% casein by weight, wherein the casein and the plasticizer are subject to a mechanical strain at a temperature below 130° C. in the extruder; molding the casein compound into a profile, wherein the casein compound is pressed through the extruder nozzle onto a transfer device and is consolidated on said transfer device; curing the profile, wherein the profile is cooled on the transfer device; portioning the profile into portions of any length, wherein the profile is cut at a corresponding position using a cutting tool.
SEMI-SOLID FORMULATION FOR VOLUNTARY ORAL ADMINISTRATION OF BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS TO RODENTS
A formulation for voluntary oral administration of bioactive compounds to rodents. The semidsolid formulation having at least one thickening agent, a digestible sweetener selected from sucralose and calcium saccharin, a diluent agent, wherein the diluent agent is a powder with a granulometry between 300 and 800 μm, obtained from finely grounded seeds, cereal grains or cereal grain based diet for rodents, at least one flavor masking agent and a bioactive compound. The semi-solid formulation promotes voluntary feeding in rodents regardless of the bioactive compounds contained therein and without disruption of the metabolic pathways, therefore the semi-solid formulation has shown to be ideal for use in the oral administration of drugs and bioactive compounds to rodents. Use of the semi-solid formulation in the production of toxicant baits for rodents is also envisioned.
COMPOSITIONS FOR DISRUPTING BIOFILM FORMATION AND FOR TREATING BIOFILM-RELATED DISORDERS
The disclosure relates to thiosulfur containing compositions, in particular propyl-propane thiosulfonate (PTSO) and propyl-propane-thiosulfinate (PTS). Such compositions are useful for treating infection and reducing or degrading biofilms both in vivo and in vitro. In particular, such compositions are useful in the treatment of biofilm-related disorders, including but not limited to mastitis, digital dermatitis, and chronic wound infections.
