SELF-STERILIZING PACKAGE AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
The presently disclosed subject matter provides a system and method for sterilizing a wide variety of products. Specifically, in some embodiments, the presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a package that is capable of self-sterilizing by initiating sterilizing conditions inside the package interior without the necessity of being treated with an externally-supplied sterilizing medium. Particularly, the disclosed package includes at least one dual-layer lid that comprises inner and outer layers and an interstitial space that houses a sterilizing gas-producing component.
CLIMATE CONTROL JAR
A climate control container maintains herbs fresh for extended periods of time. The container includes a container part with a cylindrical wall attached to a base forming an internal volume for herbs. A top, climate control part connects to the cylindrical wall of the container part. A layering system is placed in an upper portion of the internal volume that includes plates in a top-down vertical arrangement. The plates are formed with unique respective patterns of through-holes to limit air movement. A top cover part makes an air-tight connection to the cylindrical wall and/or the top, climate control part. Air-tight connecting the top, climate control part to the container part with the layering system and to the top cover part effects an air lock sealing the internal volume to air flow in or out and controls air flow through the vertical arrangement to limit air turbulence.
Food product packaging
Food products can be stored and sold in packaging. For example, a perishable food product can be stored in a first compartment of a packaging, and a second food product can be stored in a second compartment. The first compartment can include a modified atmosphere to increase the shelf life of the food product in the first compartment. The second compartment can be under normal atmosphere. This allows a more perishable food product to be stored in the first compartment, and a prepackaged, or otherwise less perishable food product to be separately stored in the second compartment, while extending the shelf life of the food products. The first product could be a sandwich, and the second product be one or more condiments for the sandwich.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH ELECTROCHROMIC PREFORMS
A system for containing electrochromic preforms comprising: a rigid structure defining a compartment; and a vapor barrier disposed within the compartment and adapted to define a selectively sealable internal volume, wherein a plurality of electrochromic preforms are receivable in the internal volume, and wherein the internal volume defines a reference tool for aligning at least one of the plurality of electrochromic preforms. A component adapted to couple with an edge of an electrochromic preform comprising: a body defining an electrochromic preform engagement portion and a tool engagement portion pivotally coupled with the electrochromic preform engagement portion, wherein reducing a dimension of the tool engagement portion increases a corresponding dimension in the electrochromic preform engagement portion.
Modified Atmosphere Packaging Unit, Method for Manufacturing Such Unit, and Use Thereof
The present invention relates to a modified atmosphere packaging unit, and method for manufacturing such unit and the use thereof. A modified atmosphere packaging unit according to the invention comprises: a product receiving body configured for holding a product, and having a bottom part and a wall part; a flange configured for attaching a seal thereon for closing the product receiving body; a seal or lid that is attached to the flange, wherein the product receiving body and the flange are a moulded fiber product comprising: an amount of plant-based fiber material; an amount of wet strength agent; and wherein the product receiving body and the seal or lid is provided with a biodegradable barrier-coating and/or a biodegradable barrier-film.
HERMETICALLY SEALED PACKAGING FOR FRESH FOODSTUFFS
An atmosphere controlled foodstuff container includes a base tray and a cover. The cover and base tray are constructed of a substantially gas impermeable material. The cover and base tray are connectable and are hermetically sealed with a sealant or sealing material. The container includes at least one atmosphere control member, such as a membrane or micro-perforations, which controls the flow of gases into and out of the otherwise sealed interior of the container. The base tray may be opaque for use as a serving tray and the cover transparent to permit viewing of the product.
Device for preserving beverages
A closure element for liquid containers, in particular bottles, includes a stopper engaging the opening of the liquid container (e.g., a neck of a bottle) and a cap (5) covering the edge of the neck opening, the stopper including an inlet channel passing therethrough and optionally an outlet channel, the inlet channel and optionally the outlet channel (42) are respectively provided with an inlet valve or outlet valve, which may be a pressure relief valve (21).
Carbonation Preservation Device
The present disclosure provides a carbonation preservation device that attaches to the mouth of an open container holding carbonated liquid. More specifically, the present invention relates to a device for preventing loss of carbonation from a carbonated liquid stored within a container by purging the trapped air above the remaining liquid within the container and replacing it with carbon dioxide or mixture of gases. When in place, the carbonation preservation device purges the air and other gases from the volume above the remaining carbonated liquid and fills the volume with a gas, such as carbon dioxide, or a mixture of gases, in order to pressurize the container and prevent the escape of carbon dioxide from the remaining carbonated liquid in the container.
STORED ELASTOMER COMPOSITES
Disclosed herein are elastomer composites stored in a container or package. The composite is uncured and comprises at least one elastomer and at least one filler. The package or container comprises at least one wall surrounding the composite wherein the at least one wall comprises at least one oxygen barrier layer. Containers or packages having this oxygen barrier wall have an oxygen transmission rate of no more than 100 cm.sup.3/(m.sup.2.Math.day.Math.atm) at 23 C. and 0% relative humidity. Also disclosed are methods for storing elastomer composites with the packages or containers disclosed herein.
Container assemblies with paper-based end closures
The present disclosure is directed to recyclable, composite container assemblies with improved characteristics resulting from a combination of raw materials, structural design, systems, and methods for sealing a paper-based closure to a paper-based container body. The container assemblies demonstrate superior performance and seal properties, such as very low oxygen transmission rates and high resistance to bulging and/or damage due to high pressure differentials. The disclosed container assemblies, manufactured at high speeds, have been optimized by increasing the shelf-life of food products stored therein, while minimizing any non-paper materials such that the container assemblies qualify as recyclable mono-material.
