APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE PACKAGING

The present invention pertains in general to an apparatus and method for the modification of atmosphere in the packaging of perishable items, such as food items, for increased longevity. Embodiments include apparatus and methods which provide a customizable mix of gasses dependent upon the food being stored, and process for the monitoring of estimated pressurized gas canisters remaining within a vessel providing pressurized gasses.

FOOD PRODUCT PACKAGING

Food products can be stored and sold in packaging. For example, a perishable food product can be stored in a first compartment of a packaging, and a second food product can be stored in a second compartment. The first compartment can include a modified atmosphere to increase the shelf life of the food product in the first compartment. The second compartment can be under normal atmosphere. This allows a more perishable food product to be stored in the first compartment, and a prepackaged, or otherwise less perishable food product to be separately stored in the second compartment, while extending the shelf life of the food products. The first product could be a sandwich, and the second product be one or more condiments for the sandwich.

Tamper-Proof Container

The present invention is a tamper-proof container, which provides secure storage of a valued artifact and optionally destroys the valued artifact if the container is compromised. The core components of the invention are an airtight container comprising a first shell and a second shell, which contains the valued artifact, a gas pressure sensor assembly, a lever assembly, a trigger assembly, a wrecker assembly, and an optional alarm assembly. A predetermined gas pressure is used as the key to protect the container. During the assembly of the container the internal pressure is set to the predetermined container pressure and the container is sealed. If compromised, the change in gas pressure is detected by the gas pressure sensor assembly, which triggers the trigger assembly via the lever assembly, and activates the wrecker assembly to destroy the artifact. Optionally, the trigger assembly activates the alarm assembly to alert the user.
