System, disposable cartridge, and method for the preparation of a liquid product

A system for the preparation of a liquid product has a dispensing apparatus and a disposable cartridge. The cartridge includes a reservoir filled with a single serve portion of a liquid ingredient to be combined with a base liquid, one or more dispensing passages, and a sealing film that covers the reservoir. The apparatus has a pressurization dome member with a peripheral gas seal adapted to sealingly engage the cartridge around a location where one or more openings are created in the sealing film. A pressurized gas source is connected to the dome member. The apparatus feeds pressurized gas beneath the dome member, to allow the liquid ingredient to be pressurized via the one or more openings in the sealing film, to assist dispensing of the liquid ingredient from the reservoir via the one or more dispensing passages.

A capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a potable beverage. The capsule comprises an aluminum capsule body having a side wall and an outwardly extending flange. The capsule is hermetically closed by an aluminum cover attached to the outwardly extending flange. The capsule further comprises a sealing member at the outwardly extending flange for providing a fluid sealing contact with an enclosing member of a beverage preparation device. The capsule further comprises an elastic support structure, which is attached to an outer cover surface of said cover. In a condition, in which the capsule is freely resting with said elastic support structure on a fully straight reference surface, the elastic support structure provides a spacing between the outwardly extending flange and said reference surface, said spacing being constant all around in the circumferential capsule direction.

A cartridge in accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure comprises a cartridge body body comprising a cellulose-based material, a filter, a beverage material, and a cover. The cellulose-based material may also be used for the cover, and reduces the leaching of potentially hazardous materials from similar plastic-based single-serve beverage cartridges.

A capsule is designed for insertion in a centrifugal beverage production device for preparing a beverage from a substance contained in the capsule by introducing liquid in the capsule and passing the liquid through the substance using centrifugal forces. The capsule includes a body having a bottom end and an open end spaced apart in the axial direction, an upper wall for covering the body at the open end along a direction transverse to the axial direction, and an enclosure between the body and the upper wall containing a predetermined amount of beverage substance. The capsule further includes an annular pressure-setting ring configured for adjusting the backpressure in the beverage production device. The pressure-setting ring provides an improved coffee in-cup quality. A set of capsules can have pressure-setting rings of different dimensions for setting different backpressure when engaged in a centrifuging beverage production device.

This end is closed with a lid (26) and forms an inner chamber (4). From said end there projects a perimetrical rim (12) having a sealing member (14) with an annular groove (16) formed between the side wall (18) of the main body (6) and a remote wall (20). The device (100) comprises an enclosing member (102) configured to receive the capsule (2) and having a leading sealing edge (104) which, in the operative position, is inserted in the groove (16) and is sealingly compressed simultaneously on the side wall (18) of the main body (6) and the remote wall (20). The invention also relates to a method for preparing infusions with this unit.

Methods and systems related to membrane attached to a cartridge of a fluid dispensing device are disclosed. A disclosed cartridge includes a membrane that is attached to the cartridge by a first seal and a second seal, wherein the first seal is stronger than the second seal, before the cartridge is installed into the dispensing device. The second seal is broken during the installation of the cartridge into the dispensing device by applying a pressure from a pneumatic system external to the cartridge, but the first seal remains intact at the applied pressure. A method for installing the cartridge into the dispensing device and breaking the second seal as part of the installation of the cartridge into the device is disclosed.

CAPSULE FOR PREPARING A BEVERAGE BY A BEVERAGE PRODUCTION DEVICE

The invention relates to a capsule (1, 1) designed for insertion in a beverage production device (100) for preparing a beverage from a substance contained in the capsule (1, 1) by introducing liquid into the capsule (1,1) and, optionally, by passing the so introduced liquid through the substance using centrifugal forces. The capsule (1,1) comprises: a body (2) defining an enclosure for containing an amount of beverage substance, the body (2) comprising a bottom end and an open end; a flange-like rim (22) extending outwardly from the body (2); an upper wall (3, 3) attached to the flange-like rim (22) to cover an opening (21) of the body (2) at its open end; and an annular ring (4, 4) that is separately provided and clampable between the flange-like rim (22) and the beverage production device (100) when the capsule (1, 1) is inserted in the beverage production device (1, 1) for preparing the beverage. The annular ring (4, 4) is made at least partly of a biodegradable and/or compostable material.

The sealing member comprises a separate crushable element made of aluminum provided on the capsule body at a side thereof, which side iswhen seen from the outwardly extending flangeopposite the cover.

The pack includes an insert comprising at least one primary fluid inlet with aqueous and gaseous fluid injection inlets, as well as a container where the ingredient or ingredients are stored, wherein the aqueous fluid injection inlet and the gaseous fluid injection inlet communicate with the inner volume of the container. Also disclosed is a machine for use with the pack in preparing a food or beverage product, a system containing the pack and the machine, and methods of use of the system containing the pack and machine. Embodiments provide a beverage capsule, a brewing device, and a beverage dispenser. The beverage capsule comprises an inner cup, an outer cup and a sealing film, and the top edge of the inner cup is provided with an inner cup outward flange, which fits with the top edge of the circumferential wall of the outer cup to form a ring surface seal, and has an outward extension part that extends to the outer side of the outer cup in the radial direction, and the sealing film seals the top opening of the inner cup. In such an arrangement, the beverage capsule can form a tear opening between the inner cup outward flange and the top edge of the circumferential wall of the outer cup by means of a film tearing mechanism acting in a tearing form.
