NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR WITH ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES FOR USE IN PET FOODS AND/OR PET FOOD INGREDIENTS
A natural antioxidant for pet food and/or pet food ingredients to extend the shelf life of the pet food and/or pet food ingredients. The natural antioxidant is a natural smoke antioxidant obtained from fractions of natural liquid smoke. A pet food or pet food ingredient that contains a phenolic fraction of a liquid natural smoke flavor (or “the natural smoke extract”). The phenolic fraction exhibits an antioxidant effect on the pet food or the pet food ingredient, such as delayed oxidation or hydrolysis of fats and oils, whereas fats include animal fat and oils include vegetable oils; or stated differently, the delayed rancidification of the pet food or pet food ingredient.
METHOD OF INCREASING THE PRODUCTIVITY OF A NON-RUMINANT ANIMAL
The present invention relates to a method of increasing a measure of a production trait in a non-ruminant animal by administering a red seaweed of Asparagopsis species to the animal.
Food compositions and methods for preventing copper-associated hepatopathies
A pet food containing naturally occurring copper that can be used as a prophylactic diet to prevent and/or reduce copper storage disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, adverse gastrointestinal food reactions, and/or food allergies in pets is provided. A method for forming this pet food containing naturally occurring copper includes: providing a formula selected from the group consisting of chicken meal, corn gluten, duck, rabbit, venison, fish, peas, potato, barley, rice, corn, and any combinations thereof; and adding one or more ingredients having a naturally occurring copper source to provide a naturally occurring copper concentration in the pet food composition from about 7.3 ppm to about 25.0 ppm, adjusted for a dry matter basis.

INSECT PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Variable-scale, modular, easily manufacturable, energy efficient, reliable, and computer operated Insect Production Superstructure Systems (IPSS) may be used to produce insects for human and animal consumption, and for the extraction and use of lipids for applications involving medicine, nanotechnology, consumer products, and chemical production with minimal water, feedstock, and environmental impact. An IPSS may comprise modules including feedstock mixing, enhanced feedstock splitting, insect feeding, insect breeding, insect collection, insect grinding, pathogen removal, multifunctional flour mixing, and lipid extraction. An IPSS may be configured to be constructed out of a plurality of containerized modules.

Use of biotin and natural essential oils for bovine animals for the prevention and treatment of ketosis
Methods to prevent ketosis or minimize the effects of ketosis in ruminant animals are provided. This methods include feeding to the animal biotin in combination with a mixture of at least two essential oil compounds selected from the group consisting of thymol, eugenol, meta-cresol, vaniline and guajacol. The methods usefully prevent and/or inhibit ketosis of calving ruminant animals and the subsequent need for veterinary treatment. In a preferred embodiment of a feeding concept for dairy cattle, especially calving dairy cattle, biotin is used in an amount sufficient to provide a daily dosage of 10 mg to 20 mg per head to which it is to be administered. It is at present contemplated that the essential oils are administered in amounts (total dosage ranges of essential oils) of 1 to 1.5 g per head per day.
