PROBIOTIC BACTERIAL MOLECULES AND THEIR USE IN METHODS TO TREAT/PREVENT INFECTION BY HARMFUL BACTERIA AND TO PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL HEALTH

This invention provides isolated and characterized secreted molecules from probiotic bacteria for use in compositions and methods for the treatment and/or prevention of infection by harmful pathogenic bacteria. The isolated secreted molecules can also be used in nutritional or medical food products which provide probiotics to the gastrointestinal tract of a mammal.

Composition having improved flowabilty and methods for making and using the composition

Disclosed compositions comprise a therapeutic agent and a carrier selected, or processed to have, an acceptable composite flow index, a granular particle size of 18 mesh to 80 mesh, or both, such as processed granular wheat middlings. The composition may also comprise an oil and/or micro tracers. Suitable granular wheat middlings may have a size range of from 18 mesh to 80 mesh, such as 20 mesh to 80 mesh. The composition has improved flowability characteristics, compared to a composition where the carrier, such as processed wheat middlings, are powdered and/or flakey. Certain embodiments concern a composition comprising, consisting essentially of, or consisting of, nicarbazin, granular wheat middlings, soybean oil and micro tracers. The composition may be administered to an animal, for example, to treat or prevent coccidiosis. Also disclosed herein are methods for making and using the composition.

Animal feed material

A feed material for livestock is effective in prevention and/or treatment of pathogenic infections in livestock and/or in increasing efficiency in livestock production. Enteral administration of polysaccharide butyryl esters to livestock animals results in increased butyrate concentrations in the lower intestinal tract. This leads amongst others to a reduced presence of pathogens in the lower intestinal tract and feces and superior growth performance results compared to other butyrate formulations or products. The feed material provides polysaccharide butyryl esters, compositions, such as feed additives and/or feed, having the polysaccharide butyryl esters, as well as the uses of the polysaccharide butyryl esters as feed additive, e.g. for preventing or treating pathogenic infections in livestock and/or in increasing efficiency in livestock production.

The present invention relates to the use of a starch nanoparticle loaded with at least one active molecule of interest to feed zooplankton, in particular a living prey chosen from rotifers, brine shrimp and copepods. In particular, the invention relates to the use of this loaded starch nanoparticle to increase the size and/or density and/or egg-laying rate of this zooplankton, and/or the hatching rate of the eggs thereof

Antimicrobial peptide Scyreprocin of Scylla paramamosain and method thereof

The present disclosure discloses an antimicrobial peptide Scyreprocin of Scylla paramamosain and a method thereof, wherein an amino acid sequence of the antimicrobial peptide Scyreprocin comprises a sequence shown in SEQ ID NO 01, and the antimicrobial peptide is expressed and purified by using genetic engineering technology. The recombinant antimicrobial peptide Scyreprocin has advantages of wide antimicrobial spectrum, good antimicrobial effect, and rapid germicidal rate, shows great application significance, and has good application in preparation of antimicrobial agents. The recombinant antimicrobial peptide Scyreprocin has no cytotoxicity to mouse hepatocytes AML12, human liver cells L02, and can be safely used for medical treatment or can be used as a feed composition.

ROMO1-DERIVED ANTIMICROBIAL PEPTIDES INCLUDING LYSINE SUBSTITUTION AND VARIANTS THEREOF

The present invention relates to antimicrobial peptides derived from Romo1 protein, and provides various peptides having the amino acid sequence of the α-helix 2 region of the Romo1 protein and an antibacterial composition containing each of the peptides, as a result of confirming that the peptides have antibacterial activity against gram-positive, gram-negative and multidrug-resistant bacteria. The Romo1-derived peptides and variants thereof have better bactericidal capability against various types of bacteria and multidrug-resistant bacteria than existing antibiotics and antibiotic peptides, and have antibacterial activity against various bacteria in blood vessels, and are novel antibiotics that may be provided as substances for the prevention or treatment of a wide range of bacterial infectious diseases. A composition containing the antimicrobial peptide of the present invention is suitable for various applications, including drugs, quasi-drugs, food and feed additives, pesticides and cosmetic additives, to prevent or treat infectious diseases.
