This disclosure provides a configurable pallet or load-bearing platform, such as a pallet, for supporting goods. The load-bearing platform may include one or more plastic bases having two or more protrusions connected by one or more bridge pieces. The two or more protrusions are spaced apart one or more distances. The load-bearing platform further includes a cardboard base having openings spaced apart an amount wherein the openings are configured to receive the two or more protrusions of the plastic base. A load distribution member may be included and configured to contact at least a portion of the plastic base. The load distribution member may support at least a portion of the goods and distributes at least a portion of the weight of the goods to at least a portion of the plastic base. The size of the cardboard base, as well as other components of the load-bearing platform, in certain implementations, may be customized on demand.

FIBER REINFORCED PALLETS

A reinforced plastic pallet includes a pallet deck having a lower deck surface and an opposing upper deck surface, and the upper deck surface is configured for contacting goods. The reinforced plastic pallet includes one or more pallet legs extending between the lower deck surface and a base layer, wherein the base layer is reinforced with a fiber layer. A method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced pallet having a thermoplastic part includes programming a controller with a pallet assembly profile; moving the thermoplastic part relative to a heat source to form a melted surface on the thermoplastic part; and depositing a fiber-reinforced material onto the melted surface according to the pallet assembly profile. The method may include entangling the fiber-reinforced material with the melted surface; and cooling the melted surface.

Disclosed herein are reinforced laminated wooden boards suitable for use in pallets and other constructions, as well as methods for making them. A board disclosed herein includes a wood-based core comprising a front surface, a top surface, a rear surface, and a bottom surface; and a reinforcing material adhered to at least a portion of at least one of the front surface, the top surface, the rear surface, and the bottom surface with a binder composition. Pallets disclosed herein include one or more such boards.

An enhanced wood product includes a wooden board or plank having a length and at least three sides, the sides defining a polygonal cross section along the length of the wooden board or plank. A polyurethane-urea coating on at least two of the sides very substantially increases the strength of the wood product and various products made with coated wood.

Shipping system for temperature-sensitive materials. In one embodiment, the shipping system includes a frame defining an enclosure. The frame includes a bottom, a top, a front, a rear, a left side, a right side, a left corner gusset, and a right corner gusset. The front serves as a door. Thermal breaks are provided in one or more of the bottom, the front, the left corner gusset, and the right corner gusset. Vacuum insulated panels are positioned along all sides of the frame. Many of the vacuum insulated panels are encapsulated between the frame and an outer shell. A plurality of phase-change material assemblies are positioned within the frame along all sides. Heat-spreaders are positioned interior to the phase-change material assemblies. The shipping system are dimensioned so that four such shipping systems are seated on a prorate manual cargo sheet.

The present invention relates to a waterproof paper-based pallet having a paper pallet body, the paper pallet body comprising a paper panel having a load-bearing upper side and paper legs connected to the paper panel. The essence of the invention is that the paper pallet body has a spray-formed coating of a solvent-free polyurethane system, a polyurea system or a hybrid polyurea system around its entire outer surface. The invention also relates to a method of producing such a paper-based pallet.
