Pet food
The present disclosure relates to coextruded pet food compositions and/or to methods for producing the same. The disclosure provides, for example, a method for producing a pet food, comprising: (i) extruding a first composition from a first extruder through a die at a first rate of exit from the die; and (ii) extruding a second composition from a second extruder through the die at a second rate of exit from the die, wherein the first rate of exit from the die is higher than the second rate of exit from the die, to produce a coextruded pet food that comprises about 30% to about 50%, by weight, of the first composition and about 50% to about 70%, by weight, of the second composition. Moreover, the coextruded pet food compositions of the present disclosure may include, for example, at least about 3% cheese and/or at least about 5% bacon.
BODY WEIGHT CONTROL METHOD FOR PET
Provided is a body weight control method for a pet, including a body weight reduction step of feeding pet food, which has a moisture content of less than 25%, and a protein content of 20% by mass or more in terms of dry matter and a soybean-derived ingredient content of 5% to 30% by mass in terms of dry matter with respect to the total amount of pet food, to a pet daily for a period of 20 days to 100 days in a feeding amount that meets a daily energy requirement of 70×kg BW.sup.0.75, in which a body fat percentage of the pet immediately after completion of the body weight reduction step is reduced by 5% or more with respect to a body fat percentage of the pet at a start of the body weight reduction step.

MODIFIED PEANUT BUTTER COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SAME
A modified peanut butter composition is provided that includes natural peanut butter, hard butter, and silica gel or fumed silica. The modified peanut butter can also include maltodextrin and canola oil. A method of producing a modified peanut butter composition is also provided. The method includes heating a natural peanut butter to a temperature of at least 140° F., adding a hard butter to the natural peanut butter, mixing a silica gel or a fumed silica with the hard butter and natural peanut butter until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, and mixing the homogeneous mixture until the temperature is in the range of 115° F. to 130° F.

PET FOOD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Provided is pet food which has a moisture content of 15% to 30% by mass and a saccharide content of 5% by mass or less in terms of solid content and contains 0.001% by mass or greater of free cysteine.

EXTRUDED, RETORT-STABLE PET FEEDS
Extrusion processes for the production of retort-stable feed products comprise forming a mixture of feed ingredients and subjecting the mixture to specific mechanical energy (SME) and specific thermal energy (STE) inputs to achieve low SME/STE ratios, followed by retorting of the extruded products. The extrusion system (20) includes a preconditioner (22), extruder (24), and a two-stage drying assembly (26/28). The extruded products may be retorted directly from the extruder or after partial or complete drying thereof.

Pet supplement
A method of making a supplement for a pet. The method mixes an aqueous protein solution with supplements. Once the supplements have been mixed into the aqueous protein solution, a fat constituent is introduced and mixed into the solution. The solution is then cooled and stored. After a predetermined period of time, the mixture is reheated and a thickening agent is introduced into the mixture.
