Container structure with a built-in opening and reclosing feature
Containers are described that allow a consumer to see inside the container and to more easily access the products. One form of the container includes a base member with a lid defining a window. A flexible laminate with a peelable flap portion is attached to the lid to provide access to the products inside. The flexible laminate includes a first film layer laminated to a second film layer. The first film layer includes a first cut line defining a peelable flap portion and the second film layer includes a second cut line offset from the first cut line that defines an opening into the container. First and second reclose surfaces defined between the cut lines on the corresponding film layers include pressure-sensitive adhesive to allow the container to be re-sealed via movement of the peelable flap portion back into engagement with the flexible laminate remaining with the container.
Re-sealable flexible package with reinforced perimeter
Improved packages and methods for constructing packages are provided that reduce or prevent leakage into or out of the package. In particular, the package includes a base member and a lidding member with a reinforced perimeter portion that blocks channels that may form at the interface between the base member and the lidding member from extending to the edge of the base member, such that, e.g., liquids have no path to the package exterior. The perimeter portion may be a thicker region of a first film of the lidding member (e.g., a polyethylene emulsion), or the perimeter portion may be formed using permanent adhesive. Frangible layers and/or cut lines may be defined in the material of the base member or the lidding member to allow a controlled break to occur when the lidding member is peeled away from the base member to provide access to the package contents.
Package integrity indicating closure
A resealable closure for a container or package in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which breaks and/or produces an audible sound when the resealable closure is opened for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form includes at least one strip or frangible structure that is initially affixed to two portions which comprise the resealable closure so that upon opening the resealable closure for a first time, at least one of the strips breaks. The strips may include a weakened portion such as a narrowing. Integrity of the package is indicated by an intact strip viewable upon opening the resealable closure and conversely, a broken or non-intact strip would indicate that the resealable closure has been previously opened. Package integrity may also be shown by a moveable second panel or moveable die cut tab portions.
Portion control cups, lidding material for said cup, method of making said cups and lids and device for forming a removal line in said cups and lids
A container can include a body having a volume defined therein for retaining a product. The body can include a top surface adapted to be sealed by a lid. The container further includes a channel defined in a portion of the body such that the channel is in fluid communication with the internal volume at a first end and sealed by a portion of the body at an oppositely disposed second end. The container further includes a top flange surrounding the top surface of the body and includes a portion that borders the channel, with removal line disposed in the container to define a removable portion. The removal line extends from a first edge to a second edge and through the channel such that the removable portion can be removed from the body along the removal line to expose the channel.
CLOSURE MEMBER FOR A FOOD CONTAINER
A closure member for a food container including a multilayer laminate having a first layer of material at least partly light-permeable, a second layer of plastic material, a third layer of repositionable adhesive material interposed between the first and the second layer, at least one inner weakening line obtained on the second layer and extending according to a predetermined geometry defining, in use, an access gap to the container, at least one outer weakening line, obtained on the second layer, proximal to the peripheral edge with respect to the inner weakening line at least at the hand gripping portion, wherein the second layer has a predetermined graphic pattern printed or realised on at least one of its faces.
Tamper Evidencing Metal Foil Container Closure
A tamper evident metal foil closure for a container which provides visual evidence of tampering in the form of damage to the metal foil (e.g. tearing) and evidence of temperature tampering of the metal foil when heat is used to remove and reseal the metal foil. Containers sealed with this novel metal foil closure make it more difficult to tamper with or remove the container contents and then return the container for a refund.
Dual Function Portion Control Container and Method of Making the Same
In an embodiment, a portion control container can have a body and a lid sealed to the body. The lid can have defined therein a spout-type opening. The spout-type opening can be defined by an initiation region having 100% cut-through the lid that transitions to a pattern of reduced strength having less than 100% penetration through the lid. The container can remain sealed until the lid is separate from the container along the seal to provide a dip-type opening or the lid material is torn at the initiation region and pattern of reduced strength to define a spout-type opening for squeeze dispensing of the product from the container.
DIE CUT RESEALABLE LAMINATED LIDDING FILM
A lidding film and method of manufacture thereof includes a laminated web having upper and lower film layers joined by a central PSA layer. At least one laser creates a kiss cut through one but not both of the film layers to form a first flap. A second laser can form a second, larger flap in the other film layer. Separating the film layers or pulling back the second flap also pulls back the first flap, creating an opening and leaving a PSA coated margin for resealing. One or more score cuts through only the upper layer, proximal to the apex can facilitate lifting of the flaps. A second plurality of score cuts through only the lower layer proximate but not overlapping the first plurality can further facilitate the flap lifting. The score cuts and/or printing over the die cuts can provide tamper evidence.
Resealable lidding with patterned adhesive
A package is defined by a rigid base member and a peripheral flange surface. A flexible lidding member is heat sealed to the flange. The lidding member includes a first layer having a perimeter portion fixed to the flange and a second layer adhered to the first layer. An adhesive layer includes a permanent adhesive central portion and a perimeter pressure sensitive adhesive portion overlapping with the flange. A central score line is provided within the first layer, surrounding the central adhesive portion. A tab portion is formed as part of the perimeter portion of the lidding member and includes an edge score line formed in the first layer directly adjacent the fixed perimeter portion of the first layer.
Resealable packaging device and method for packaging food product
A packaging device incorporating a breathable peel/reseal film and enabling a preservation process for allowing for the distribution, storage and multiple servings of a food product, particularly perishable food product(s), and initiating and controlling the transmission rates, respiration rates or deterioration of the perishable food product(s) and thereby, maintaining good internal and external food quality and normal development of flavor and aroma characteristics. The packaging device includes a plurality of atmospheric control attributes that modulates or controls the atmosphere within the packaging device as the food product(s) respire in order to promote the extended shelf-life of the food product and the maintenance of the quality and desirable marketable characteristics of the food product. The atmospheric control attributes can include perforations that may be positioned in breathable peel/reseal film portion of the package to allow the product respiration for multiple servings without substantially altering the shelf life extension properties of the packaging device.
