SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED SORTATION

System and method are provided where parcels or packages are associated or grouped, into logical group or logical containerization of parcels or packages, without need for physical container, such that parcels or packages can be tracked as a group, for example with a unique group ID. Logical group may be tracked within specified logical zone on conveyor, transported, sorted and/or otherwise processed as unique logical group without need to be contained in physical container. System and method for automated sortation can accumulate set number or set volume of packages, and then process the accumulated set number or volume of packages, including automatically closing a container filled with the packages.

Continuously Flowing Seed Metering and Discharge System

A seed metering and discharge system that generates and discharges a continuous stream of seed for downstream processing. A variable position gate is disposed at an output end of a bottom hopper of the system. During a measurement period, a commanded position of the variable position gate is adjusted in proportion to mass measurement signals received from load cells mounted to the bottom hopper. A top hopper refills the bottom hopper during a refill period when the variable position gate is commanded into a fixed position. The system regulates the continuous stream of seed, measured in real-time, so that the actual seed flow rate at the output end closely matches a target seed flow rate. The system operates iteratively between the measurement and refill periods during continuous discharge cycles.

Operating granular material conveyors near capacity

A conveyor capacity control system includes a conveyor operative to receive granular material at a conveyor intake thereof and convey same to a conveyor discharge with a conveying device at a conveyor flow rate up to a maximum conveyor flow rate, and a granular material container with a container discharge opening oriented to discharge granular material from the granular material container into the conveyor intake, and a discharge gate movable to control a size of the container discharge opening. A flow rate control processor is operative to determine the maximum conveyor flow rate and detect when a discharge flow rate of granular material from the container discharge opening into the conveyor intake is greater than or less than the maximum conveyor flow rate, and increase or decrease the discharge flow rate to substantially coincide with the maximum conveyor flow rate. A hoist control is also provided for a truck box.

Apparatus and methods for assisting in varying the amount of material delivered from a conveyor

Automatically adjusting the amount of material delivered by a conveyor belt includes measuring the speed of a drive pulley that drives the conveyor belt and determining the weight of material dispensed onto the conveyor belt from at least one material dispenser on a real-time, ongoing basis. Based at least in part upon such speed and weight measurements, an electronic controller repeatedly adjusts the speed of the conveyor belt by dictating the output of at least one motor that drives the drive pulley.

Rejector device

A rejector device for use within a system for sorting discrete objects, the divert device comprising at least one divert device arranged to change the trajectory of an object; and drive means arranged to drive the divert device between at least three discrete positions such that in use, at least one of said discrete objects passes along one of three paths.

Transfer chute

A transfer chute (10) for use in bulk materials handling operations, and also a methodology for designing such a transfer chute, a method of constructing the transfer chute, and a method of transferring bulk materials between two locations using the transfer chute. The transfer chute (10) comprises a chute body (11) defining a flow pathway (19), with an upper section (19a) of the flow pathway accommodating accelerating flow to maintain dense granular flow regime, an intermediate section (19b) of the flow pathway providing consolidated flow in which the flow rate is retarded in a controlled manner avoiding creation of flow turbulence, and a lower section (19c) of the flow pathway in which flow is further retarded to create a controlled accumulation and build-up of material upwardly from the lower section.
