Described is a compensating device applicable on intermittent advancement packaging machines with wrapping material constituted by a film made of a flexible plastic material, for continuous compensating of a stretching of the film during drawing thereof, the machine comprising a first drawing group of the film, a mobile element able to exert a determined force on the film during advancement, the mobile element being conventionally known as a dancer and a second drawing group of the film arranged downstream of the first drawing group, where each drawing group is provided with a sensor for detecting markers located at regular intervals along the film, the compensating device being constituted by a third drawing group, located between the first and second drawing groups, the third drawing group being provided with a marker sensor, the third drawing group being provided with independent motorisation and an automatic roller opening system.

A tipping paper feed assembly (1) for use in smoking article manufacture. The tipping paper feed assembly (1) comprising a first feed device adapted to supply a first tipping paper web (4) that is fed into apparatus for smoking article manufacture, and a second feed device adapted to supply a second tipping paper web (11). The tipping paper feed assembly (1) also comprises a splice mechanism (12) adapted to attach the first and second tipping paper webs (4, 11) together for changeover between the first and the second feed devices. The tipping paper feed device (1) also comprises a registration system configured to register features of each tipping paper web (4, 11) prior to attaching said first and second tipping paper webs together with said features in register.

Medium transport device

A medium transport device is provided. The medium transport device includes a transporting portion that transports a medium in a transport direction, a winding portion that winds the medium, and a friction member that suppresses displacement of the medium in a cross direction with the transport direction. The displacement in the cross direction is suppressed by causing the friction member to contact the medium. A contact state of the medium with the friction member is changed in accordance with a winding mode in which the medium transported by the transporting portion is wound around the winding portion, and a non-winding mode in which the medium transported by the transporting portion is not wound around the winding portion.

Measurement value correction of a reference mark on a material web

A method for correcting a measurement value of a reference mark on a material web is disclosed. A controller, a machine, a computer program and a computer program product can perform a correction of this type. To improve determination of the position of a reference mark on a material web, a machine in which the material web is moved in a conveying direction has at least one tool that functions in a non-positive locking manner, a second tool that functions in a non-positive locking manner and is located downstream of the first tool in the conveying direction, and a sensor that is located between the two tools. A measurement error in the sensor which arises as a result of an adjustment of the second tool is determined at least approximately at least via parameter values of the second tool. The measurement value is corrected by the measurement error.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for positionally accurate processing of a material web in a web-processing process for the series production of products, in particular for producing membrane assemblies, wherein a shaped element (2) is introduced into the material web (1) or a shaped element (2) is applied to the material web (1), wherein multiple reference marks (3) per product are created when the shaped element (2) is being introduced into or when the shaped element (2) is being applied to the material web, and, in a subsequent process step for positionally accurate processing of the material web (1) relative to the shaped element (2) of a product, the position of at least one of the multiple reference marks (3) of this product and/or at least one of the multiple reference marks (3) of a following and/or a preceding product is detected.
