Web tension control
The current invention is generally directed to apparatuses and methods for controlling tension and tension disturbances in a web being continuously unwound from a roll of spirally wound web material. In accordance with the present disclosure, a rotary dancer mechanism is used for applying active and variable forces to a moving web in response to irregularities, such as variations in tension. In one aspect, the apparatus and method of the present disclosure may be used to attenuate undesired disturbances in the web as the web is being fed into a process.

The controller estimates a diameter of the sheet roll based on a conveyance amount of the sheet caused by rotation of the conveyance roller, a rotation amount of the sheet roll measured by the rotation measuring device, and a position of the tensioner detected by the position detector.

A process for the continuous production of thin-walled, radially closed hollow profiles which are composed of nonferrous metals and have a small cross section comprises supply of a flat strip of the nonferrous metal to a forming apparatus (212) at a first supply speed, where the thickness of the strip corresponds to the wall thickness of the hollow profile. SHEET MANUFACTURING METHOD AND PROCESSING DEVICE
A sheet manufacturing method includes a conveying step of conveying a base material sheet; and a processing step of rotating a pair of processing rolls to sandwich a conveyance path on which the base material sheet is conveyed, wherein irregular portions along respective outer peripheral faces of the processing rolls engage with each other with a clearance to stretch the base material sheet when the base material sheet passes between the processing rolls. An upstream drive roller transports an elongate medium. An upstream tension sensor detects tension of the medium. A downstream drive roller transports the medium. A downstream tension sensor detects tension of the medium in a position between the upstream and downstream drive rollers. A control unit controls transportation of the medium by operating the upstream drive roller based on a first difference which is a difference between a first detection value and a target value, operating the downstream drive roller based on a second difference which is a difference between a second detection value and a target value, and when a specific condition is satisfied, further operating the downstream driver roller with an adjustment value, which is based on the first difference, added to the second difference.
Media management using a media management device
Examples of a media management device for use in a media processing device are described, together with a media processing device for use with a media management device. The media management device supplies a continuous print media to the media processing device, while receiving the media from an external media source. The media management device is arranged to isolate a tension in the continuous print media experienced at the media processing device from a tension in the continuous print media experienced in the external media source.
