A taping unit for a box closing machine is disclosed, including: an enclosure frame; a gummed tape reel and a plurality of running rollers mounted on the frame; at least an applicator roller arranged in the bottom part of the enclosure frame; and a guiding and sliding path of the gummed tape within the enclosure frame. The taping unit further includes: an operating assembly provided with a respective frame movably mounted on the enclosure frame, whereon a drive motor of a drive roller and at least an actuator to operate a cutting blade are installed; and a wetting system provided with a tank storing wetting liquid arranged in a position below the operating assembly. Between the drive roller and the wetting system, the guiding and sliding path is provided, arranged according to a substantially vertical plane.

A medium processing apparatus includes a liquid applier and a post-processing device. The liquid applier applies liquid onto a medium. The post-processing device performs a process on a media bundle including the medium with the liquid applied by the liquid applier. The liquid applier includes a liquid application member, a liquid storage, a movement mechanism, and a compression support. The liquid application member has an end portion to contact with the medium to apply the liquid onto the medium. The liquid storage stores the liquid to be supplied to the liquid application member. The movement mechanism moves the liquid application member toward or away from the medium to bring the end portion into contact with the medium or separate the end portion from the medium as an approaching operation. The compression support compresses the liquid application member according to the approaching operation of the movement mechanism.

A medium processing apparatus includes a liquid applier, a post-processing device, and circuitry. The liquid applier includes a liquid application member that applies liquid to a part of a medium, the medium being at least one medium. The post-processing device binds a bundle of media including the medium to which the liquid is applied by the liquid applier. The circuitry changes, according to a binding condition for the post-processing device, at least one of an amount of movement of the liquid application member toward the medium or a contact time during which the liquid application member is in contact with the medium.

A fluid dosing substrate dispenser comprises a housing with a first fluid reservoir and/or a first fluid reservoir holder configured to removably receive the first fluid reservoir and a second fluid reservoir and/or a second fluid reservoir holder configured to removably receive the second fluid reservoir. The dispenser includes a substrate advancing mechanism configured to receive substrate from a substrate source and to advance a portion of the substrate through the housing and an application mechanism configured to apply fluid from at least one of the first fluid reservoir or the second fluid reservoir to one or more portions of the substrate. A computing system is configured to select at least one of amount of fluid for application, composition of fluid for application, or portion of the substrate the fluid is applied based on an input received by the computing system indicating the user of the substrate dispenser.

A method for splicing two sheets of material containing alkaloids is provided, the method including: providing a first sheet of material containing alkaloids wound in a first bobbin; providing a second sheet of material containing alkaloids wound in a second bobbin; unwinding the first sheet wound in the first bobbin; evaluating one or more of the following parameters of the unwound first sheet: moisture, thickness, width, stickiness, and presence or absence of holes or tears; and depending on a value of the evaluated one or more parameters, unwinding the second sheet wound in the second bobbin, and splicing the first sheet and the second sheet. A system for splicing two sheets of material containing alkaloids is also provided.

A binding apparatus includes a binder configured to bind sheets of paper by advancing binding teeth toward the sheets of paper, a water supplier configured to supply a preset amount of water to the sheets of paper to be bound by the binder, and a processor configured to, if a specific condition is satisfied, make a setting to reduce the amount of water to be supplied to the sheets of paper by the water supplier.

A binding apparatus includes a binder configured to bind sheets of paper by advancing binding teeth toward the sheets of paper, a water adjuster configured to adjust an amount of water contained in the sheets of paper, and a processor configured to, based on a setting on one of the binder or the water adjuster, make a setting on the other one of the binder or the water adjuster.

A medium processing apparatus includes a liquid applier including a liquid application member to apply liquid to a medium through the liquid application member, and a postprocessor to execute post-processing on a medium bundle including the medium to which the liquid is applied. In the medium processing apparatus, the liquid applier moves the liquid application member to contact the medium and apply the liquid to the medium, and adjusts a position of the liquid application member on the medium to make an amount of the liquid applied from the liquid application member to the medium constant before and after the liquid application member is worn.

A binding processing device includes: a binding processing element that advances a binding tooth to a sheet to perform binding processing of the sheet; and a processor that performs control of drying a bound part of the sheet after the binding processing of the sheet by the binding processing element is performed.
