An image reading device includes: a controller which performs a first drive operation for rotating the discharge roller, and a second drive operation for moving the discharge guide between the third position and the fourth position. The controller stops the first drive operation when performing the second drive operation, and stops the second drive operation when performing the first drive operation.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a process unit, a first rotator, a second rotator, a driving force transmission mechanism, and a displacement mechanism. The process unit forms an image. The first rotator is rotatable about a shaft in a first direction and a second direction reverse to the first direction. The second rotator is disposed in parallel to the first rotator. The second rotator is detachably connected to the process unit. The driving force transmission mechanism transmits a driving force of the first rotator to the second rotator to rotate the second rotator about a shaft when the first rotator is rotated in the first direction. The displacement mechanism releases the connection between the second rotator and the process unit by displacing the second rotator in a shaft direction when the first rotator is rotated in the second direction.
RECORDING MEDIUM DETECTION DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
Provided is a recording medium detection device which prevents a recording medium from jamming. The device comprises: a first roller and a second roller which nip and transport a recording medium; a roller shaft which rotatably supports the second roller; a shaft support; and a displacement detector. The shaft support supports the roller shaft movably in the thickness direction of the recording medium. The displacement detector detects displacement of the second roller in the thickness direction. The shaft support further supports the second roller movably in the transportation direction of the recording medium through the roller shaft.
SHEET FEEDING APPARATUS, PRINTING APPARATUS, AND SHEET FEEDING METHOD
It is aimed to downsize of the entire apparatus without setting the swing angle of a swing member to be unnecessarily large. A pickup roller, which is for feeding a document disposed on a feeding tray, is supported by a pickup arm that is swingable about a rotation shaft. Depending on the rotational direction of the rotation axis, the pickup arm swings between the first position, in which the pickup roller is in contact with the document on the feeding tray, and the second position, in which the pickup roller is above and not in contact with the feeding tray. An arm member is rotated by rotation of the rotation axis after the pickup arm swings to the second position.

A sheet discharge apparatus includes a discharge roller pair, the discharge roller pair including a drive roller and a driven roller, a holder member configured to rotatably hold the driven roller, a first conveyance guide including a first guide portion, a second conveyance guide configured to support the holder member movably in a separating direction, the second conveyance guide including a second guide portion which forms a conveyance path, together with the first conveyance guide, and a regulation portion configured to regulate a movement of the holder member to be movable within a range of a first distance in the separating direction from a position where the driven roller is in contact with the drive roller, wherein the first distance is smaller than a second distance which is a distance between the first guide portion and the second guide portion in the separating direction.
SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING THE SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE
A sheet conveying device includes a pickup roller, a separator, a conveyor, and circuitry. The pickup roller contacts an uppermost sheet of sheets stacked on a sheet stacker and feed the uppermost sheet. The separator moves the pickup roller between a contact position at which the pickup roller is in contact with the uppermost sheet and a separation position at which the pickup roller is separated from the uppermost sheet. The conveyor conveys the uppermost sheet fed by the pickup roller. The circuitry is to control the conveyor to temporarily stop conveyance of the uppermost sheet, and control the separator to move the pickup roller from the contact position to the separation position in response to the temporarily stop of the conveyor.

A conveying device includes a pair of rotary bodies and a movable member. The pair or rotary bodies includes a first rotary body disposed in a first region, and a second rotary body disposed in a second region and facing the first rotary body across a sheet conveyance passage through which a sheet applied with liquid is conveyed. The movable member is disposed upstream from the first rotary body in a sheet conveyance direction. The movable member is configured to move between the first region and the second region with respect to the sheet conveyance passage. The movable member is configured to move to the second region in a middle of conveyance of the sheet between the first rotary body and the second rotary body.
MEDIUM LOADING DEVICE
Provided are a loading portion configured to load a medium discharged from a discharging portion, and a plurality of pressing portions provided downstream of the discharging portion in a discharging direction of the medium, and configured to press the medium loaded on the loading portion. The loading portion includes a first loading portion including a downward sloped surface sloping downward in the discharging direction, and also includes a second loading portion including an upward sloped surface sloping upward in the discharging direction. The downward sloped surface and the upward sloped surface form a discharging path through which the medium is discharged. The plurality of pressing portions includes a first pressing portion configured to press the medium loaded on the first loading portion, and also includes a second pressing portion configured to press the medium loaded on the second loading portion.

A sheet processing apparatus is configured to press a fold line that is formed on a sheet. The sheet processing apparatus includes: a sheet supporting unit configured to support the sheet in a pressing direction for pressing the fold line; a pressing unit configured to press the fold line that is formed on the sheet that is supported by the sheet supporting unit; and a pressing-force generating unit configured to generate a pressing force for pressing the sheet supporting unit against the pressing unit at a central part in a direction along which the fold line is formed.
Anti-rotation device and method of use
A device for reducing rotation of an article during singulation of a stack of articles is disclosed. The device may include a torsion element, a rotatable member configured to rotate about an elongated axis of the torsion element between a first position and a second position, and a revolving member coupled to the rotatable member. An outer surface of the revolving member contacts a drive belt in the first position and an article in the second position. The torsion element exerts torque on the rotatable member when it moves from the first position towards the second position. The torque causes the outer surface of the revolving member to apply a frictional force to the article, thereby minimizing rotation of the article. Systems and methods of singulating articles are also disclosed.
