Removal of phytate
The present invention relates to a steeping process for reducing the phytate in kernels of cereals and/or pulses using endogenous phythase. The kernels are steeped in water whilst avoiding germination and then dried. The steeped kernels and/or flour made therefrom are used in food, feed, pet-food, and/or cosmetics.
REMOVING HEAVY METALS FROM RICE
Harvested rice is combined with water and a process aid to provide a mixture of rice, water and the process aid. The combination is maintained for a time sufficient for at least a portion of heavy metal contaminants, predominantly heavy metal ions, to be separated from the rice. Thereafter, at least a portion of the water and the process aid are separated from the combination, leaving rice that has a reduced content of heavy metals.
Flexible polishing apparatus for granulated grains
A flexible polishing apparatus for granulated grains is provided. The flexible polishing apparatus includes a housing, a feeding device, at least one flexible polishing unit, a bran discharging device, and a rice outlet. The flexible polishing unit includes a radial gravity self-flow flexible polishing chamber. The feeding device, the flexible polishing chamber and the rice outlet are sequentially arranged from top to bottom along the gravity direction. The flexible polishing apparatus for granulated grains avoids the shear effect of granulated grains in the polishing chamber, improves the flexible friction effect, and greatly reduces the damage to rice in the polishing process while ensuring that rice bran is cleaned and the rice is polished, thereby improving the rate of polished rice and reducing energy consumption.
ANTIBODY-CYTOKINE ENGRAFTED PROTEINS AND METHODS OF USE FOR IMMUNE RELATED DISORDERS
The present disclosure provides antibody cytokine engrafted proteins that bind to and stimulate intracellular signaling through a high affinity interleukin receptor. The antibody cytokine engrafted proteins find use in enhancing anti-inflammatory cell responses, and reducing pro-inflammatory effects in the treatment, amelioration and prevention of immune related disorders such as Type 1 Diabetes.
Compact Microwave Device for Monitoring Grain Conditions
Novel microwave devices capable of monitoring pest activity or moisture content in grain. A planar active microwave resonator with a regenerative element is placed in proximity to the grain to be tested, for example by immersion within in a bulk grain store to monitor moisture levels or pest activity therein, mounting within a sample container to monitor moisture levels or pest activity in a smaller volume of grain sampled from a grain store or shipment, or exposure to individual sample kernels for detecting internal pests therein.
Method of Producing Gluten Free Oats through Hyperstectral Imaging
A method of producing gluten-free oats from a supply of grains incorporating oats and at least one contaminant grain includes hyperspectral imaging and analyzing data of only a particular region of interest of each grain in the supply of grains, particularly excluding tip and peripheral edge regions of the grain. Therefore, the particular regions of interest is limited to a central region of each grain determined by locating a centroid of the grain and collecting data of the grain from only pixels in a predetermined spacing from the centroid. Preferably, the hyperspectral imaging is only performed in wavelengths ranging from 1000 to 2500 nm. The method can be particularly employed in connection with quality control sampling of a pre-sorted supply of gluten-free oats to assure a gluten level well below 20 ppm, preferably a gluten level of no greater than 10 ppm.
Fiber Washing Method and System
The present invention provides to a fiber washing system, optimized for the use of hydrolytic enzymes in the system. Furthermore, the present invention provides to a method for improving starch and gluten yield in a wet milling process, preferably comprising the optimized fiber washing system.
NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITION
Use of a lentil product to increase the bioavailability of non-haem iron in a composition comprising one or more anti-nutritional factors.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING GRAIN MIXED GROUND MEAT, GRAIN PROCESSED FOOD, AND GRAIN MIXED GROUND MEAT
A method for producing grain mixed ground meat includes a step (A) of simmering grain having been shed and polished; a step (B) of flaking the grain having been simmered in the foregoing step; a step (C) of drying or roasting the grain having been flaked in the foregoing step to obtain grain processed food; and a step (D) of mixing the grain processed food obtained in the foregoing step with ground meat to obtain grain mixed ground meat.
Food Compounds Infused Consumables
The present disclosure is directed to whole spectrum compounds from a first food infused into a food grade oil or second food and beverage consumables, along with methods of producing the consumables infused with compounds from the first food. The second food consumables are infused in an overall two-step process, in which compounds from a first food are initially infused into a food grade oil, which in turn is used to infuse a second food and beverage consumable with whole spectrum compounds from the first food.
