20200260711 · 2020-08-20 ·

A fishhook remover for dehooking a fishhook from a catch is provided. The fishhook remover includes a first jaw and a second jaw, wherein the first jaw has a needle for engaging an eye of the fishhook, the needle projecting from a surface of the first jaw toward an opposing surface of the second jaw; wherein the second jaw has an opening on the opposing surface that is configured to receive the needle. The first and second jaws are operatively coupled to move between an open position where the first and second jaws are separated by a maximum distance possible and the eye of the fishhook can fit over the needle, and a closed position where the first and second jaws are at their closest approach to one another and the needle contacts the second jaw to securely retain the fishhook between the first and second jaws.

FISH DEHOOKING DEVICE

Disclosed is a fish dehooking device for permitting a fisherman to separate a fish from a fishing hook and line. The dehooking device includes a pair of pivotally connected handles one of which is coupled to a dehooking assembly such that its pivotal movement is translated into linear movement of the dehooking assembly. Positioning of a line/hook against the dehooking assembly followed by retraction of the dehooking assembly through the squeezing of the handles together results in the release of a fish from a hook and line.

FISH HOLDING TOOL
20200128807 · 2020-04-30 ·

A fish holding tool for safe and secure holding of a caught fish for purposes such as removing a hook from its mouth. The fish holding tool operates as a pliers having a planar four-bar toggle linkage, where the upper jaw of the upper member remains stationary and the lower jaw is opened and closed by manipulation of the lower handle. The fish holding tool is made of a lightweight, buoyant material, and allows stability by the positioning of a lower-jaw tab into an upper-jaw slot and by a toggle linkage having a toggle-linkage bumper. The fish holding tool provides a tapered extending tip on the forward end of the upper jaw, which facilitates the opening of the mouth of the caught fish even where the fish forcefully holds its mouth closed in reaction to having been hooked. In order to facilitate easy and secure gripping in wet conditions with a struggling fish, the fish holding tool provides a molded grip texture on the outer surfaces of both the upper handle and the lower handle and provides an upper-handle bulbous end and a lower-handle bulbous end. The fish holding tool also provides a lanyard with a buoyant lanyard-end terminator that facilitates easy retrieval, a secure grip during use, and buoyancy of the entire tool if dropped into the water.
