OUTPUT TRAY HAVING A MOVABLE SECTION

According to examples, an apparatus may include an input tray coupled to a media path and an output tray to receive media from the media path. The output tray may be automatically positioned to an open position based on the media being inputted into the input tray. A movable section may be movably coupled to the output tray. In some examples, the movable section may automatically move relative to the output tray based on the output tray being automatically positioned to the open position.

According to one embodiment, a sheet post-processing device includes a first tray to receive sheets from an image forming unit, a second tray to receive sheets from the first tray, and a third tray to receive sheets from the second tray. The third tray is movable relative to the second tray. A bundle claw is configured to move sheets in a first direction from the second tray to the third tray. A controller is configured to move the third tray relative to the second tray according to the sheets on the second tray. Depending on various characteristics of the sheets on the second tray or the presence of sheets already on the third tray, the position of the third tray may be changed to reduce possible misalignments of sheets in the transfer from the second to third tray.

BIASING FORCE ADJUSTING DEVICE, TRANSFER DEVICE, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

A biasing force adjusting device includes a roller, a roller holder, a first biasing member, and a second biasing member. The roller faces a mover. The roller holder holds the roller and is displaceable with respect to the mover. The first biasing member applies a first biasing force to the roller holder to press the roller against the mover. The second biasing member applies a second biasing force greater than the first biasing force to the roller holder to press the roller against the mover.

A sheet stacker includes a sheet stacking member, a biasing force applier, an angle setter, and a regulator. The sheet stacking member has an upstream portion in a sheet conveyance direction. The upstream portion is movable in a vertical direction. The biasing force applier is configured to apply a biasing force to bias the sheet stacking member upward. The angle setter is configured to set an angle of the sheet stacking member in the sheet conveyance direction, relative to a sheet conveying portion, between a first angle and a second angle. The regulator is configured to regulate movement of the sheet stacking member in a case in which the upstream portion of the sheet stacking member is located closer to the sheet conveying portion at either the first angle or the second angle.

A cassette in which sheets are stacked is electable from an apparatus main body. An intermediate plate is provided in the cassette that is movable to raise and lower the stacked sheets. A securing member that restricts the cassette from being raised when at a restricted position is provided, where, in response to movement of ejecting the stacking unit from the apparatus main body, the securing member moves to a permitted position that enables the movable member to rise.

Sheet stacking apparatus and image forming apparatus provided with the same

In order to provide a sheet stacking apparatus for maintaining alignment characteristics of long-length sheets, the sheet stacking apparatus is a sheet stacking apparatus located above in a pair of sheet stacking apparatuses provided to overlap vertically along a vertical direction, and is provided with a first stacking section for stacking sheets, a second stacking section provided to extend from a downstream end of the first stacking section in a sheet transport direction and connected to the first stacking section rotatably, and a third stacking section which is attached to the second stacking section to extend from a downstream end of the second stacking section in the sheet transport direction, includes an inclined angle with respect to a horizontal surface smaller than in the second placing face, and which is attachable and detachable with respect to the second stacking section in a rotation direction.

PRINTING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD FOR THE PRINTING APPARATUS

A printer includes a printing unit, a casing, a scanner unit disposed in an upper portion of the casing, and a discharge unit that, below the scanner unit, is connected to the casing pivotably between a closed position and an open position and that a sheet of paper is discharged to. The discharge unit includes a placement surface for the sheet and a medium support unit capable of supporting the sheet from below while in a state of being protruded from the placement surface. The medium support unit is displaceable between a maximum protruded position and a minimum protruded position. When the amount of protrusion of the medium support unit from the placement surface when the discharge unit is in the open position is less than the amount of protrusion of the medium support unit in the maximum protruded position from the placement surface.

SHEET LOADING DEVICE

The rotational pin and the lock pin are laterally provided in the right and left first brackets that are fixed to the right and left side surfaces of the sheet loading tray respectively, and furthermore, the right and left second brackets are fixed to the right and left of the one side surfaces of the casing. When the sheet loading tray reaches the sheet loading position, the lock pin is made to enter the sheet loading tray lock groove formed on the right and left second brackets to thereby lock and hold the sheet loading tray at the sheet loading tray storage position, along with an action of rotating the sheet loading tray about the rotational pin fitting into the sheet loading tray support groove formed on the right and left second brackets from the sheet loading position to the sheet loading tray storage position.

CONVEYOR AND TRAY UNIT

A conveyor, including: receiving trays; a conveyance mechanism; and a support supporting the trays, wherein at least one tray except a lowermost tray is supported so as to be selectively positioned at one of a receiving position and an upper position, wherein at least one lower tray except an uppermost tray includes a protruding portion attached to a tray body so as to be selectively positioned at one of a protruding position and a retracted position, and wherein the conveyor includes a force transmitting mechanism for effectuating at least one of (a) a retracting movement of the protruding portion of one of the at least one lower tray from the protruding position to the retracted position caused by an upward movement of an adjacent upper tray disposed just above and immediately adjacent to the one of the at least one lower tray from the receiving position to the upper position.

CONVEYING APPARATUS AND TRAY UNIT
