A sheet feeding device includes a sheet stacking base having a base surface for a sheet, a feeding member, and a pair of cursors. The pair of cursors includes first and second cursors that separate from and come close to each other along the sheet width direction, and is movable between first position and second position. The first and second cursors are separated by the maximum distance at the first position and by the minimum distance at the second position. The first cursor includes a movable base part, and a movable sub-cursor. When a narrow sheet is placed on the base surface, the sub-cursor is moved from the reference position toward the second cursor to be brought into contact with a side face of the narrow sheet to thereby position the narrow sheet.
Sheet feeder capable of determining sheet size based on travel distances of pair of side plates and image forming apparatus
A sheet feeder includes: a sheet rack; a pair of side plates movable along a width of a sheet on the sheet rack and abuttable against both widthwise ends of the sheet; a widthwise drive device that moves the side plates along the width of the sheet; a pair of end detecting devices provided one for each of the side plates and capable of detecting both the ends of the sheet abutting the side plates, respectively; and a control device that includes a processor, controls the widthwise drive device through the processor executing a control program to allow the widthwise drive device to move, based on outputs of the end detecting devices, the side plates until abutment against both the ends of the sheet, acquires respective travel distances of the side plates moved by the widthwise drive device, and determines a size of the sheet based on the travel distances.
SHEET LOADING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING THE SHEET LOADING DEVICE
A sheet loading device includes a device body to load a sheet, a guide disposed extending in a sheet conveying direction in the device body, a restricting body to move along the guide of the device body and to restrict a position of an end portion of the sheet, and a securing body to attach to the restricting body and the guide and detach from the restricting body and the guide, and having an engaging body. The engaging body of the securing body engages with the guide at an arbitrary position on the guide in the sheet conveying direction. The restricting body is being secured to the device body according to engagement of the engaging body of the securing body with the guide of the device body.
Media tray assembly
In an example implementation, a media tray assembly for use in an imaging device includes a media width adjuster having a bottom portion and a top portion. The top portion of the media width adjuster is extendable between a first stable position and a second stable position. The media tray assembly also includes a tension spring to drive the top portion to the stable positions.

In an example implementation, a media tray assembly for use in an imaging device includes a media width adjuster having a bottom portion and a top portion. The top portion of the media width adjuster is extendable between a first stable position and a second stable position. The media tray assembly also includes a tension spring to drive the top portion to the stable positions.

The device comprises a support, a movable arm extended along the media advance direction, a spring for generating a spring force urging the movable arm against the support, and a releasable actuator for compensating the spring force and for selectively offsetting the movable arm away from the support in a plane parallel to a base of the input tray. The movable arm is maintained parallel to the media advance direction during movement of the movable arm.

A storage to store a sheet to be conveyed by a conveyance unit includes a regulating member to regulate a sheet edge in the storage and a switching device to switch a regulating member state to a first state where a regulating member position is changeable and to a second state where the position is fixed. The storage is to be held by a main body of a sheet stacking apparatus and is moveable to a closed and to a pullout position. The regulating member state is switched to the first or second state by an operator operating the switching device when the storage is in the pullout position. When the storage is pushed from the pullout position into the closed position while the regulating member state is the first state, the regulating member state is switched from the first state to the second state by the main body.
