The cleaning device includes a cleaning member including a contact surface configured to come in contact with the surface of the sheet conveyance member. The contact surface is an irregular surface rougher than the surface of the sheet conveyance member. At cleaning of the surface, the cleaning member makes a relative movement to the surface of the sheet conveyance member. The irregular surface is an irregular surface configured to take away the solid substance adhering to the surface of the sheet conveyance member when the cleaning member makes the relative movement.

A module (M) for a machine (100) for processing flat objects having a support structure (1, 2, 3, 4) above which the flat objects are transported along a given transport path. The module includes a discharge system for such objects, the discharge system is capable of discharging any flat object which falls below the transport path.

The guide is arranged at a downstream side of the image forming section in a conveyance direction of the image receiving medium. The guide guides the image receiving medium. The conveyance roller conveys the image receiving medium along the guide. A sheet conveyance device includes first and second discharge portions to discharge sheets, first and second stacking portions on which sheets are to be stacked, and a control unit to control the second stacking portion to move between a first position and a second position. The first position is that a downstream side of the second stacking portion is positioned and inclined upwardly with respect to an upstream side of the second stacking portion in a sheet conveyance direction of the sheets discharged from the second discharge portion. The second position is that the downstream side of the second stacking portion is positioned on a lower side of the first position of the downstream side of the second stacking portion.

A transport device includes a transport belt having a support surface configured to support a medium, a cleaning roller including an absorbent member configured to absorb cleaning liquid, and configured to clean the support surface as the absorbent member comes into contact with the support surface, a supply unit configured to supply the cleaning liquid to the cleaning roller, and a squeeze member to squeeze the absorbent member as the cleaning roller rotates in a state in which the squeeze member is in contact with the absorbent member. The supply unit is configured to be switched between a supply state in which the cleaning liquid is supplied to the cleaning roller and a non-supply state in which the cleaning liquid is not supplied to the cleaning roller, and the squeeze member squeezes the absorbent member while the supply unit is in the non-supply state.

A conveyance section cleaning device includes a recording medium conveyance unit that sucks and conveys a recording medium, a cleaning section that cleans the recording medium conveyance unit, and a controller that controls the cleaning section. If the recording medium is changed to one with a different size, the controller causes the cleaning section to clean the recording medium conveyance unit before printing starts.

An image forming apparatus is capable of correcting a lateral deviation and/or a skew of a sheet. A pair of conveying rollers convey the sheet to a transfer position of an image. An image sensor reads the sheet on an upstream side of the transfer position in a sheet conveying direction. A control device senses a foreign substance on a reading surface of the image sensor as well as calculate a lateral deviation amount and/or a skew amount of the sheet based on an output signal of the image sensor.
