Print media edge repair
Examples described herein include a print media edge repair system that includes a first repair element disposed adjacent to a media handling path to repair a leading edge of a sheet of print media as the sheet of print media moves into a position relative to a printing system associated with the print media edge repair system. The print media repair system may also include a second repair element disposed opposite the first repair element across the media handling path to repair a trailing edge of the sheet of print media as the sheet of print media moves into the position relative to a printing system.
Sheet feeding apparatus and image forming apparatus
A sheet feeding apparatus includes a drawer unit having a sheet supporting portion, a feeding roller to feed the sheet, a conveyance roller pair, and first and second conveyance guides. An abutment surface, formed integrally with the first conveyance guide, abuts against the sheet and guides the sheet toward the drawer unit. The abutment surface is inclined upstream from a downstream side in a sheet feeding direction toward a downstream side from an upstream side in a drawing direction and overlaps with the second conveyance guide when viewed in the drawing direction.

SHEET FEEDING APPARATUS, IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet feeding apparatus includes a tray on which a sheet is to be placed, a feeding roller, a separating portion that forms a separation nip to separate sheets, a rotating member provided between the feeding position and the separation nip in a sheet conveying direction, a first detecting sensor, a second detecting sensor, a driving source, and a control portion. The rotating member rotates by being pushed by a leading end of the sheet. The control portion detects a position of a trailing end of a preceding sheet separated by the separating portion by using the second detecting sensor, and detects presence or absence of a subsequent sheet placed on the tray by using the first detecting sensor. Based on detection results of the first detecting sensor and second detecting sensor, the control portion controls the driving source such that the feeding roller starts to feed the subsequent sheet.
UNWINDER OF THIN PLY PRODUCT WOUND ON A ROLL, WITH FACILITATED EXTRACTION OF THE ROLL
Unwinder of a thin ply product wound on a roll, comprising a first roll-holder assembly equipped with a first unwinding rod for a respective roll, on which the roll is adapted to be supported, and which has an axis of rotation transversal to the direction of movement of the ply unwound from the roll, a second roll-holder assembly equipped with a second unwinding rod of a respective roll, on which the roll is adapted to be supported, said second rod being parallel to said first unwinding rod of the first roll-holder assembly, said second roll-holder assembly facing said first roll-holder assembly in an unwinding zone, a ply splicing assembly placed above said first and second facing roll-holder assemblies, a ply accumulation unit to allow automatic switching between a roll being unwound in one said roll-holder assembly and a spare roll provided in the other roll-holder assembly, a system for the lateral movement of each of said unwinding rods with respect to said unwinding zone, from said unwinding zone to a loading zone wherein said rolls are outside said winding zone to facilitate loading the rolls into the respective roll-holder assemblies, wherein said splicing assembly can be moved from a working position above the two said roll-holder assemblies in said unwinding zone, to a working position above an extracted roll assembly in the loading zone, to allow preparation for splicing of the leading edge of the ply wound on the spare roll.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS THAT GUIDES DOCUMENT FROM COMMON TRANSPORT ROUTE TO ONE OF CURVED TRANSPORT ROUTE AND LINEAR TRANSPORT ROUTE, BY CONTROLLING ACTION OF SWITCHING DEVICE, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image reading apparatus includes a document tray, a common transport route, a curved transport route, a linear transport route, a switching device, a document transport device, a first image sensor, a second image sensor, a trailing edge detector, a multi feed detector, a leading edge detector, and a controller. The controller determines a length of the document in the transport direction, on a basis of a time point that the leading edge detector has detected the leading edge of the document, a time point that the trailing edge detector has detected the trailing edge of the document, and a time point that a detection status of the multi feed detector has been switched to a non-detection state, and guides the document to the curved transport route or the linear transport route from the common transport route, according to the length of the document, by controlling the switching device.
Paper sheet processing device
A bill processing apparatus which is capable of reliably supplying information on a bill to the bill housing body side. The paper sheet processing apparatus has a bill housing part (100) being capable of housing a bill inserted from a bill insertion slot, and also a reader/writer (142) which wirelessly transmits information on the bill inserted from the bill insertion slot. The bill housing part (100) has a coil antenna (104c) which wirelessly receives the information transmitted from the reader/writer (142), and a storage part (104b) which stores the information on the bill received from the coil antenna (104c).
Printing sheet brake
A device for decelerating a transported and flat shaped product includes a brake operable by an air jet supplied by an air jet nozzle. The air jet nozzle is configured to impinge the air jet on a braking force implementing body to exert a braking force on the flat shaped product. The braking force implementing body includes: at least one first element, which has a physical structure for a return-flow of the air jet supplied by the air jet nozzle, and at least one second element, which for the braking force implementation is in an operative connection with the first element. The second element is configured to implement an impulse force caused by the air jet from the air jet nozzle. The impulse force results as the braking force onto the flat shaped product.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SPLICING A WEB OF MATERIAL
An apparatus for splicing comprises a first web support surface configured to support a traveling web thereon and a second web support surface configured to support a replacement web thereon. The first traveling web travels in a machine direction. The splicing assembly also comprises a first web sensor and a web joiner. A controller is configured to determine, via the first web sensor, a position of a trailing end of the traveling web and to, in response to determining the position of the trailing end, cause a leading end of the replacement web to be positioned adjacently to the trailing end. The computer is also configured to control the web joiner to create a joint coupling the trailing end to the leading end.
Document scanner with envelope discrimination and detection
A system for detecting envelopes from multi-fed documents in a scanning system with a scanning track along which documents move laterally toward a scanning station having a plurality of spaced apart penetrating detectors across the scanning track. The scanners detect a leading edge as a single layer material, i.e. without an air gap and the interior as having an air gap in the document scanned. If a document has an interior air gap, but the leading edge does not, it is first assumed to be an envelope.
