An elevator system includes a hoistway; and an elevator car (12) disposed in and drivable along the hoistway, the elevator car including: an elevator car door (38); an elevator door motor (40) operably connected to the elevator car door to selectably open and close the elevator car door; and a door motor brake (52) disposed at the elevator car door and selectably engageable with the elevator door motor to prevent operation of the elevator door motor thus preventing undesired opening and/or closure of the elevator car door.

Methods and system for operating an elevator include receiving input regarding a maintenance action at an access control module, the input including a first predetermined maintenance position, the first predetermined maintenance position being a position of the elevator car within an elevator shaft relative to a landing, conveying an elevator car to the first predetermined maintenance position, disabling an access prevention device of a landing door lock, and opening a landing door at the landing to enable access to the elevator car positioned at the first predetermined maintenance position.

Access prevention systems for locks of elevator systems, the access prevention systems including a lock housing defining a cavity and having a lock aperture enabling access into the cavity, a locking element attached to the lock housing and accessible through the lock aperture and the cavity, and an access prevention device operable between (i) a first state wherein a portion of the access prevention device obstructs access to the locking element through at least one of the cavity and the lock aperture and (ii) a second state wherein the access prevention device does not obstruct access to the locking element.

An unlocking system including an elevator system with a lock having an unlocking mechanism and a keyway, the lock configured to secure a door of the elevator system and a detection device configured proximal to the keyway, the detection device configured to detect the presence of an authorization device configured to operate with the detection device that is located in proximity to the unlocking mechanism. If the detection device detects a key without an authorization device, the unlocking mechanism is configured to be disabled and may not be unlocked. If the detection device detects a key having an authorization device, the unlocking mechanism is enabled and the lock may be unlocked.

An elevator door interlock device, an elevator door interlock operation method and an elevator system. The elevator door interlock device is arranged on an elevator car and has a first state in which to operate a landing door lock at a current arrival position of the elevator car to open or close a landing door, and a second state in which it makes no contact with the landing door lock, and the elevator door interlock device is configured to be in the first state when the elevator car travels in a vertical direction, and to be in the second state when the elevator car travels in a horizontal direction and to switch to the first state to open or close the landing door after the elevator car reaches a landing door position, and to return to the second state when the elevator car continues to travel in the horizontal direction.

A hoistway door locking system includes an elevator shaft. Also included is an elevator car disposed within the elevator shaft and moveable therein between a plurality of access openings located at a plurality of levels of the elevator shaft. Further included is a plurality of locking mechanisms, at least one of the plurality of locking mechanisms being located at each of the plurality of access openings, wherein each of the plurality of locking mechanisms is operable between a locked condition and an unlocked condition, and wherein only a single locking mechanism may be in the unlocked condition at a specific time, the unlocked condition occurring upon alignment of the elevator car and the respective access opening having the single locking mechanism.

An elevator door safety lock system ensures that an elevator door remains securely closed when it is not aligned with one of a plurality of floor openings. The safety lock system includes a vertical position sensor which includes an RFID reader disposed on the elevator and a plurality of RFID tags each disposed in the shaft at a different floor opening. The reader identifies when it is aligned or non-aligned with any tag indicating when the elevator is aligned and non-aligned with a floor opening. A control unit communicates with the safety lock system and an elevator controller. A door monitor indicates if the elevator door is open or closed and an engagement sensor detects whether the door lock is engaged.

An elevator door interlock device, an elevator door interlock operation method and an elevator system. The elevator door interlock device is arranged on an elevator car and has a first state in which to operate a landing door lock at a current arrival position of the elevator car to open or close a landing door, and a second state in which it makes no contact with the landing door lock, and the elevator door interlock device is configured to be in the first state when the elevator car travels in a vertical direction, and to be in the second state when the elevator car travels in a horizontal direction and to switch to the first state to open or close the landing door after the elevator car reaches a landing door position, and to return to the second state when the elevator car continues to travel in the horizontal direction.

A method enables emergency unlocking of a car door of an elevator having a car movable within a shaft to a floor. The car door has an electrically activatable lock and the floor has a shaft door with an electrically activatable door lock. The car door lock has a first latch for locking a first car door leaf and an emergency unlocking mechanism. The shaft door lock can be accessed from the floor. An actuator is attached to the shaft door. The method includes the steps: the shaft door is unlocked from the floor by the shaft door lock being manually actuated; actuation of the shaft door lock moves the actuator from a first position to a second position; in the second position, the actuator actuates the emergency unlocking mechanism; and actuation of the emergency unlocking mechanism unlocks the car door lock to unlock the first car door leaf.

A system operates an elevator door upon an elevator car residing at a landing zone of a landing and includes a locking mechanism having a rotatable lock hook assembly and a lock latch. The lock hook assembly includes a lock hook portion arranged to selectively engage or disengage the lock latch via rotation of the lock hook assembly to set the locking mechanism, respectively, into a locked state or an unlocked state, and an actuation assembly for rotating the lock hook assembly. A safety circuit indicates a state of the locking mechanism and includes a switch that is closed in the locked state of the locking mechanism and that is open in the unlocked state of the locking mechanism. A door controller is arranged to operate a door driving system, in dependence of movement of the elevator door.
