An edible composition, an aerosol composition, a flavor composition, a fragrance composition, or an inhalable composition includes an organosulfur compound such as prenyl mercaptan, 2-methylthiophene, 3-methylthiophene, dimethyl disulfide, diprenyl disulfide, 3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl thiolacetate, 3-methyl-1-[(3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl)sulfanyl]-2-butene, prenylmethylthiol (1-(methylsulfanyl)-3-methyl-2-butene), prenyl thioacetate, thiogeraniol, dimethyl sulfide, or a combination of any two or more thereof, and a primary terpene compound selected from the group consisting of myrcene, ?-caryophyllene, limonene, ?-pinene, ?-pinene, valencene, ocimene, terpinolene, or a combination of any two or more thereof.

Disclosed is a cyclopropanation process comprising the step of reacting an alkene compound having at least one carbon-carbon double bond with at least one dihaloalkane. The reaction is carried out in the presence of (i) particulate metal Zn, (ii) catalytically effective amount of particulate metal Cu or a salt thereof, (iii) at least one haloalkylsilane, and (iv) at least one solvent.

The present application relates to the preparation of cyclohexyl-alkyl carbinols, including 1-(cyclohex-3-en-1-yl)-2-methylpropan-1-ol, which possesses a minty aroma that can be described as fresh, invigorating, and menthol-like, and also possesses cooling properties. The use of cyclohexyl-alkyl carbinols as readily accessible and cost effective fragrance, flavor, and cooling ingredients, and potential applications thereof is also described.

The present invention relates to ethers of 1,2-, 1,3- and 1,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)cyclohexanes, to the preparation of such ethers and also to the use of such ethers as fragrances and as formulation auxiliaries in fragrance-comprising preparations.
