The invention relates to a system, comprising: a) a sample processing unit, comprising an input port and an output port coupled to a rotating container having at least one sample chamber, the sample processing unit configured provide a first processing step to a sample or to rotate the container so as to apply a centrifugal force to a sample deposited in the chamber and separate at least a first component and a second component of the deposited sample; and b) a sample separation unit coupled to the output port of the sample processing unit, the cell separation unit comprising separation column holder (42), a pump (64) and a plurality of valves (1-11) configured to at least partially control fluid flow through a fluid circuitry and a separation column (40) positioned in the holder, the separation column configured to separate labeled and unlabeled components of sample flowed through the column.
Diagnostic assay using particles with magnetic properties
A novel system for the analysis of molecules and cells, comprising clusters where a non-magnetic particle is supplemented with magnetic particles to form a characteristic pattern, fingerprint or bar code. Methods and devices for formation of such particles are also disclosed.
Devices and Methods using Pore Size Modulation for Detecting Analytes in a Fluid Sample
Provided are devices that include a polymeric separation medium configured to immobilize one or more constituents of interest in the polymeric separation medium and have an increased pore size upon application of an applied stimulus. Systems including the devices, as well as methods of using the devices, are also provided. Embodiments of the present disclosure find use in a variety of different applications, including detecting whether an analyte is present in a fluid sample.
CHEMICAL ACTUATORS
Disclosed herein are chemical actuators and ionic motive force transducers. The actuators and transducers are capable of converting an electrical stimulus into an ionic gradient within a reaction volume.
Method for Separation of Biopolymer Molecules and a Carrier for Application of this Method
The invention relates to a method for separation of biopolymer molecules, particularly biopolymer molecules from the group consisting of mono- a multi-phosphorylated peptides, recombinant peptides/proteins with a polyhistidine tag (His-tag) or with another chemically similar biospecific tag, cysteine-containing peptides/proteins and nucleic acids, in which a biopolymer molecule is bound in a binding solution by a specific binding to a carrier, which contains a core with dimensions in nano- and/or submicro- and/or microscale, which is composed of oxide of at least one transition metal and/or silicon oxide, on whose surface is deposited at least one continuous or non-continuous layer and/or nanoparticles of magnetic metal oxide and/or such nanoparticles are deposited in its inner structure, and subsequently undesirable and non-specifically bound components are washed off at least once from the carrier-bound bio-molecules by a washing solution, whereupon biopolymer molecules are eluted from it by changing pH and/or by using an elution solution. The invention also relates to a carrier for application of this method.
PURIFICATION OF BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS BY CONSTRAINED COHYDRATION CHROMATOGRAPHY
Materials and methods for use of constrained cohydration agents in the purification of biological materials such as antibodies, viruses, cells, and cellular organelles in connection with convective chromatography, fluidized bed or co-precipitation applications.
Material phase between conductive layers
A chromatograph is provided for identifying components of a mixture. Components are identified by different rates of adsorption and/or desorption with a material phase. In one embodiment, an electrical lead is connected to the material phase for supplying an electrical charge to the material phase. The electrical charge alters the rate of adsorption/desorption of the components with the material phase. In another embodiment, the material phase is disposed between two conductors with electrical leads connected to each of the conductors. A charge differential between the two conductors alters the rate of adsorption and/or desorption of components with the material phase.
A Process for Removing Micropollutants in Liquid or Gas
The present disclosure relates to a process, a system and a use for removing micropollutants (1) in liquid (2). The process comprises providing liquid (2) to a container (3) adapted to hold a liquid and/or a gas, providing magnetic activated carbon (4), mixing it, separating the magnetic activated carbon (4) using a magnetic separator (5), removing between 1 and 100% of the separated used magnetic activated carbon (4), removing the liquid (2), providing new liquid (2) to the container (3), providing the used magnetic activated carbon (4) to the container (3), adding between 1 and 100% of unused magnetic activated carbon (4), repeating the mixing and separation steps at least one time. The process allows for control of several parameters, such as the flow rate of the liquid, dosage of MAC and ratio used/unused MAC required to remove micropollutants from the liquid.
Multimodal anion exchange matrices
The invention discloses a separation matrix which comprises a plurality of separation ligands, defined by the formula R.sub.1-L.sub.1-N(R.sub.3)-L.sub.2-R, immobilized on a support, wherein R.sub.1 is a five- or six-membered, substituted or non-substituted ring structure or a hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl group; L.sub.1 is either a methylene group or a covalent bond; R.sub.2 is a five- or six-membered, substituted or non-substituted ring structure; L.sub.2 is either a methylene group or a covalent bond; R.sub.3 is a methyl group; and wherein if R.sub.1 is a hydroxyethyl group and L.sub.1 is a covalent bond, R.sub.2 is a substituted aromatic ring structure or a substituted or non-substituted aliphatic ring structure.
