Disclosed herein is a polymer membrane, film or coating comprising cylindrical polymer fibers at least partially ordered as hexagonal packed cylinders within the film, aligned parallel to the film surface, and present as an H.sub.1 mesophase; wherein the cylinders are crosslinked internally within the cylinders; and wherein the cylinders are spatially arranged to provide channels between the cylinders for fluid flow through the membrane, film or coating.
ZEOLITE MEMBRANE AND SEPARATION MEMBRANE
There is provided a zeolite membrane which is an MFI-type zeolite membrane formed on an inorganic oxide porous substrate, in which, in a diffraction pattern obtained by X-ray diffraction measurement using a CuK ray as an X-ray source, when an intensity of a diffraction peak appearing at diffraction angles of 7.3 to 8.4 at which a crystal lattice plane belongs to 011 and/or 101 planes is used as a reference, an intensity of a diffraction peak appearing at diffraction angles of 8.4 to 9.0 at which a crystal lattice plane belongs to 200 and/or 020 planes is preferably 0.3 or more.
METHOD OF PRODUCING SEPARATION MEMBRANE
There is provided a method of producing a separation membrane in which a zeolite membrane is formed on an inorganic oxide porous substrate. The substrate has amorphous SiO.sub.2 as a main component of a zeolite formation portion of the substrate, the method includes: a first step of forming a zeolite seed crystal and an alkaline component including a structure directing agent on a surface of the substrate; and a second step of treating a formed product obtained in the first step under a heated steam atmosphere, and the zeolite membrane is formed on the surface of the substrate.
METHOD OF PREPARING HIERARCHICAL POROUS CHANNEL MOLECULAR SIEVE MEMBRANE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The invention relates to a method for preparing a hierarchical porous zeolite membrane and an application thereof, comprising the following steps: a mesoporous structure-directing agent is added to limit the growth of zeolite crystals, and self-assembled in the crystallization process to generate a mesoporous structure. Based on a seed crystal induced secondary nucleation mechanism, this method can realize one-step hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical porous zeolite membrane with the advantages of mild and controllable synthesis conditions, simple process, good repeatability, reduced energy consumption and cost savings. The hierarchical porous zeolite membrane prepared by the method has good cut-off performance, and the cut-off molecular weight is adjustable between 200 to 500,000 Da.
METHOD FOR PRESERVING COMPOSITE SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE, PRESERVATION SOLUTION, AND SPIRAL MEMBRANE ELEMENT
Provided are a method for preserving a composite semipermeable membrane which is less likely to cause a decrease in the water permeability of the composite semipermeable membrane even in a high-temperature environment, a preservation solution used for the method, and a spiral membrane element including the preservation solution. A method for preserving a composite semipermeable membrane that allows monovalent ions to selectively permeate therethrough, the method includes using an aqueous solution containing an inorganic salt and/or an organic salt composed only of monovalent cations and monovalent anions as a preservation solution to be brought into contact with the composite semipermeable membrane.
Membranes for gas separation
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described. The membranes can comprise a support layer, and a selective polymer layer disposed on the support layer. The selective polymer layer can comprise an oxidatively stable carrier dispersed within a hydrophilic polymer matrix. The oxidatively stable carrier can be chosen from a quaternary ammonium hydroxide carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternary ammonium hydroxide, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymer), a quaternary ammonium fluoride carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternary ammonium fluoride, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternary ammonium fluoride-containing polymer), and combinations thereof. The membranes can exhibit selective permeability to gases. The membranes can selectively remove carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from hydrogen and/or nitrogen. Further, the membranes can exhibit oxidative stability at temperatures above 100? C.
