Bifidobacterium longum able to beneficially modulate immune response to respiratory virus infection
An isolated strain of Bifidobacterium longum NCIMB 42020 is useful for the treatment of viral infections, especially viral respiratory infections such as influenza, rhinovirus and RSV. Bifidobacterium longum NCIMB 42020 is also useful for clearing secondary bacterial infections.
SYNERGISTIC BLENDS OF PROBIOTICS EXPRESSING IMPROVED BENEFICIAL ACTIVITY FOR HUMAN HOST FAVOURABLY INTERACTING WITH FOOD, PARTICULARLY BABY FOOD
The invention refers to a probiotic food supplement comprising a blend of strains of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria synergistically interacting with food (for instance milk) assuring thereby an improved beneficial effect on human health, with special reference to 0-6 months babies, weaning babies, breastfed and formula fed infants as well as lactating mothers. Synergistic blends, which may also be defined as synteractive, have been designed to maximise their probiotic action when assumed with milk and/or food, in whatever state or formulation.

MICROCAPSULE, PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF
A microcapsule and a preparation method thereof, especially a multi-layer microcapsule containing an active substance and a preparation method thereof, the microcapsule having a single-layer or a multiple-layer encapsulation structure. A probiotic microcapsule and a preparation method thereof, the probiotic microcapsule having a single-layer or a multi-layer encapsulation structure. A food product or a health product containing a probiotic microcapsule (comprising a dairy product, a fermented-style food product, a beverage, chocolate, candy, a baked good, a fruit or vegetable juice product, etc. containing a probiotic microcapsule) and a preparation method thereof. A probiotic microcapsule soft powder and a preparation method thereof, the probiotic microcapsule soft powder comprising probiotic microcapsule nata de coco soft powder and probiotic microcapsule gel ball soft powder.
ENTERAL SUSTAINED-RELEASE SUGAR ALCOHOL ADDITIVE, PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention relates to an enteral sustained-release sugar alcohol additive including an inner layer structure and an outer layer structure. The inner layer structure contains components of xylitol and agar, and the outer layer structure contains components of carrageenan or gellan gum or xanthan gum or guar gum, vitamin B12, L-arabinose, and fermented bifidobacterium or fermented propionibacterium or fermented lactobacillus. The present invention further provides a method of preparing an enteral sustained-release sugar alcohol additive and an application thereof. In the present invention, by compounding xylitol, L-arabinose and vitamin B12, directional regulation of intestinal microorganisms can be achieved and high concentration synthesis of propionate in the intestine can be realized.

Nutritional Compositions for Treating a Clostridium Difficile Infection
A nutritional composition comprises fucosylated human milk oligosaccharide and/or sialylated human milk oligosaccha-ride, non-digestible, fermentable polysaccharide, and Bifidobacterium. The nutritional composition is free of short-chain fructooligosac-charide having at least about 50% of molecules with a degree of polymerization of less than about 5. A method of treating a subject at risk of developing a Clostridium difficile infection or a subject having a Clostridium difficile infection comprises administering such a nutritional composition.
MODULAR, OXYGEN-GENERATING MICROBEAD MATERIALS FOR SUPPORTING CELL VIABILITY AND FUNCTION
The present disclosure provides for spherical microbeads, methods of making, and methods of use. The spherical microbeads can be tailored to deliver one or more agents over a desired time frame (e.g., short burst or extended-release or combinations thereof). For example, spherical microbeads can be used for the extended-release of oxygen. The spherical microbeads are amendable for an injectable approach and/or ease of integration within cellular implants due in part to their spherical dimensions and size.
