CORRUGATED GRID SUPPORT FOR VERTICAL BOILING REACTOR
A baffle (i.e., tube support) for use in a shell-and-tube heat exchange reactor, such as, for example, an ethylene oxide (EO) reactor, is provided that accommodates reduced tube pitch, and thus more catalyst packed tubes can be inside the reactor. The baffle, which can be referred to herein as a corrugated grid support, includes a plurality of corrugated stainless steel strips which sit into each other and form a grid pattern having tube openings. Each tube opening is configured to permit a catalyst packed tube to be inserted therein, while allowing a sufficient open area along the shell side of the tube to permit coolant to flow through the reactor.
REACTOR FOR CARBON NANOTUBE AND NANOFIBER PRODUCTION
Systems and methods are provided for production of carbon nanotubes and H.sub.2 using a reaction system configuration that is suitable for large scale production. In the reaction system, a substantial portion of the heat for the reaction can be provided by using a heated gas stream. Optionally, the heated gas stream can correspond to a heated H.sub.2 gas stream. By using a heated gas stream, when the catalyst precursors for the floating catalyst—chemical vapor deposition (FC-CVD) type catalyst are added to the gas stream, the gas stream can be at a temperature of 1000° C. or more. This can reduce or minimize loss of catalyst precursor material and/or deposition of coke on sidewalls of the reactor. Additionally, a downstream portion of the reactor can include a plurality of flow channels of reduced size that are passed through a heat exchanger environment, such as a shell and tube heat exchanger. This can provide cooling of the gas flow after catalyst formation to allow for carbon nanotube formation, while also reducing the Reynolds number of the flow sufficiently to provide laminar flow within the region where carbon nanotubes are formed.
Reactor assemblies and methods of performing reactions
Reactors are provided that can include a first set of fluid channels and a second set of fluid channels oriented in thermal contact with the first set of fluid channels where the channels of either one or both of the first of the set of fluid channels are non-linear. Reactor assemblies are also provided that can include a first set of fluid channels defining at least one non-linear channel having a positive function, and a second set of fluid channels defining at least another non-linear channel having a negative function in relation to the positive function of the one non-linear channel of the first set of fluid channels.
DEVICE FOR MASS AND/OR HEAT TRANSFER AND PROCESS FOR CAPTURING A MOLECULE IN A PROCESS FLUID USING THE DEVICE
A device for mass and/or heat transfer includes a mass and/or heat transfer (MHX) plate having a thickness in a range from 0.5 mm to 5 mm and including a supporting matrix that is thermally conductive, and a functional material in the supporting matrix, wherein a volume fraction of the functional material in the MHX plate is in a range from 0.2 to 0.8, and a heat exchange tube configured to transport a thermal fluid and disposed on the MHX plate so that heat is transferred between the thermal fluid and the MHX plate, wherein a surface of the MHX plate includes a process flow channel of hydraulic diameter in a range from 0.3 mm to 3 mm and a process fluid in the process flow channel exchanges mass and/or heat with the MHX plate.
Integrated heat exchanger reactors for renewable fuel delivery systems
An apparatus includes an integrated heat exchanger and reactor module. The integrated heat exchanger and reactor module includes a heat exchanger channel, and a reactor channel which is thermally coupled to the heat exchanger channel. The reactor channel includes a layer of catalyst material that is configured to produce hydrogen by endothermic catalytic decomposition of ammonia, which flows through the reactor channel, using thermal energy that is absorbed by the reactor channel from the heat exchanger channel.
Continuous manufacture of DBX-1
The present invention is directed to a process for continuous production of copper (I) nitrotetrazolate (DBX-1) by reacting aqueous copper salt with aqueous 5-nitrotetrazolate salt in the presence of a reducing agent. All the reactants are introduced into a continuous flow reactor system, which is composed of a temperature controlled tubular reactor and a mixer that allows for radial mixing. An optional stirred tank reactor may also be incorporated into the process to complete the reaction and allow for crystal growth.
Combined apparatus for the synthesis of urea
Combined apparatus (1) for the synthesis of urea from ammonia and carbon dioxide, comprising an internal wall (3) which delimits two coaxial zones (4) inside the apparatus, operating respectively as reaction (4) and condensation (5) zones, and optionally also comprising a stripping zone and/or a scrubber integrated in the same apparatus.
APPARATUS FOR PREPARING OLIGOMER
Provided is an apparatus for preparing oligomer including: a reactor for carrying out oligomerization reaction by supplying a monomer stream and a solvent stream; and line 1 and line 2 which are separately provided in a lower side of the reactor, wherein line 1 includes a first level control valve and line 2 includes a second level control valve, and the reactor is periodically alternately operated in first operation mode and second operation mode, thereby switching a pipe through which the product is discharged, so that a plugging phenomenon of the pipe through which the product is discharged and the valve can be prevented.
Dimethyl ether production via dry reforming and dimethyl ether synthesis in a vessel
A system and method for producing dimethyl ether (DME) via dry reforming and DME synthesis in the same vessel, including converting methane and carbon dioxide in the vessel into syngas (including hydrogen and carbon monoxide) via dry reforming in the vessel, cooling the syngas via a heat exchanger in the vessel, and synthesizing DME from the syngas in the vessel.
Heat exchange module
A heat exchange module including a corrugated top heat exchange substrate and a corrugated bottom heat exchange substrate, and tubes that extend in a width direction (W) between the top and bottom substrates in heat exchanging contact with ridges of the substrates. A top and a bottom casing member contacts the substrates and each has a transverse side wall with slits oriented in the transverse direction (T) and accommodating the tubes. The side walls of the top and bottom casing members overlap and are mutually connected by soldering or brazing.
