The invention relates to a use of a fluorination gas, the elemental fluorine (F.sub.2) is preferably present in a high concentration, e.g. in a concentration of elemental fluorine (F.sub.2), especially of equal to much higher than 15% or even 20% by volume (i.e., at least 15% or even 20% by volume), and to a process for the manufacture of a fluorinated benzene starting from benzoic acid by direct fluorination employing a fluorination gas. The elemental fluorine (F.sub.2) is preferably present in high concentration, and subsequent decarboxylation of the benzoic acid hypofluorite obtained by direct fluorination. The process of the invention is also directed to the manufacture of benzoic acid hypofluorite by direct fluorination of benzoic acid. Especially the invention is of interest in the preparation of fluorinatedbenzene, final products and as well intermediates, for usage in agro-, pharma-, electronics-, catalyst, solvent and other functional chemical applications.
Apparatus and method for mass producing a monodisperse microbubble agent
An apparatus for mass producing monodisperse microbubbles contains a microfluidic flow focusing device. The microfluidic flow focusing device includes a dispersed phase fluid supply channel having an outlet that discharges into a flow focusing junction, a continuous phase fluid supply channel having an outlet that discharges into the flow focusing junction, and a bubble formation channel having an inlet disposed at the flow focusing junction. The configuration of the flow focusing junction is such that, in operation, a flow of dispersed phase fluid discharging from the outlet of the dispersed phase fluid supply channel is engageable in co-flow by a focusing flow of continuous phase fluid discharging from the outlet of the at least one continuous phase fluid supply channel under formation of a gradually thinning jet of dispersed phase fluid that extends into the inlet of the bubble formation channel.
SYSTEM FOR COMBINED ELECTRIC, MAGNETIC, AND CONVECTIVE ACCELERATION OF CHEMICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL REACTIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The invention relates to a microfluidic system based on active control of flow resistance and balancing pressures in microfluidic channels and an improved method for enhancing reactions with magnetic beads used in disposable microfluidic devices and cartridges for use in, but not limited to, in-vitro diagnostics. The microfluidic system and device of the invention does not utilize mechanical moving parts to control the fluid flow and has no external fluidic connection to the instrument or fluidics controller. The microfluidic system and device combines magnetic control over the movement of magnetic detection beads with electric field and convective enhancement of the movement of analytes and/or or reagentss surrounding the magnetic detection beads, thereby enabling movement of magnetic beads and analytes in the same direction or in different directions. The present invention thereby provides significantly enhanced interactions between analytes and/or reagents with the magnetic beads, which yields higher sensitivity for detection.
A REACTOR WITH A PATHWAY EXTENSION VALVE
The present invention relate to a reactor comprising: (i) a first reagent release mechanism, (ii) a second reagent release mechanism, and (iii) a reaction area fluid pathway, wherein the reaction area fluid pathway comprises a pathway extension valve, wherein adjusting the pathway extension valve varies the length of the reaction area fluid pathway, and wherein the pathway extension valve comprises a single valve.
MICRO-REACTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREPARING 2-METHYL-4-AMINO-5-AMINOMETHYL PYRIMIDINE
A micro-reaction system and a method for preparing 2-methyl-4-amino-5-aminomethyl pyrimidine. A Raney nickel catalyst is modified with formalin, and the modified Raney nickel catalyst is filled into a micro-channel reactor of the micro-reaction system. A substrate solution containing 2-methyl-4-amino-5-cyanopyrimidine and a base and hydrogen are transported to the micro-mixer and the micro-channel reactor in sequence for continuous catalytic hydrogenation to obtain 2-methyl-4-amino-5-aminomethyl pyrimidine.
Reactor and reactor system provided with same
Provided is a reactor capable of generating a proposed target solution in a short time by reacting the raw material solutions with each other while allowing a mixed raw material solution containing a plurality of kinds of raw material solutions mixed with each other to flow, and restraining the temperature of the mixed raw material solution from excessively rising. The reactor includes a reaction channel allowing the mixed raw material solution to flow and a solvent channel allowing a solvent dissolvable in the mixed raw material solution to flow. The solvent channel is connected to the reaction channel between the upstream end and the downstream end of the reaction channel so that the solvent flowing in the solvent channel is mixed with the mixed raw material solution flowing in the reaction channel from the middle of the reaction channel.
Modular continuous flow device
The invention refers to a modular continuous flow device for automated chemical multistep synthesis under continuous flow conditions. The device comprises a plurality of different types of continuous flow modules and a valve assembly for connecting the continuous flow modules to each other in a parallel or radial manner. This arrangement allows conducting chemical reaction sequences by pre-synthesizing and intermediately storing or simultaneously synthesizing at least one intermediate product which is needed in the main synthetic reaction sequence in order to obtain the final product.
