Reformer for a fuel cell system
A fuel cell system comprising a fuel cell stack, an evaporator for evaporating a mixture of methanol and water to be forwarded through a catalytic reformer for producing portions of free hydrogen. The fuel cell stack being composed of a number of proton exchange membrane fuel cells each featuring electrodes in form of an anode and a cathode for delivering an electric current. The system provides an enhanced catalytic reformer for a fuel cell system, which enables a compact design of the reformer for integration into a flat, rack mountable system.
A THERMOCHEMICAL REACTOR SYSTEM FOR A TEMPERATURE SWING CYCLIC PROCESS WITH INTEGRATED HEAT RECOVERY AND A METHOD FOR OPERATING THE SAME
The present invention relates to a thermochemical reactor system for a temperature swing cyclic process with integrated heat recovery comprising at least two modules, wherein each module comprises at least one chemical reaction zone (CRZ) and at least one thermal energy storage unit (TES), wherein the at least two modules are operationally connected for at least one heat transfer fluid (HTF) for transporting heat between the two modules, wherein each chemical reaction zone (CRZ) comprises at least one reacting material that undergoes in a reversible manner an endothermic reaction at temperature T.sub.endo and an exothermic reaction at temperature T.sub.exo, wherein T.sub.endo and T.sub.exo differ from each other, wherein the at least one reacting material is provided in at least one encapsulation within each of the chemical reaction zones (CRZ) such that a contact of the reacting material and the at least one heat transfer fluid is avoided. The present invention relates further to a method for operating such a reactor system.
Process for the thermal decomposition of ammonia and reactor for carrying out said process
Disclosed is a process for the catalytic thermal decomposition of ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen by contacting ammonia at a temperature of at least 500 C. with a porous ceramic layer which comprises nickel. Also disclosed is a reactor for carrying out the process.
Reactor and reaction system
The reactor has a heat exchanging body which includes therein a heat medium flow channel in which heat medium fluid is caused to flow, a reaction flow channel in which a reaction fluid containing a first reactant (and a second reactant) is caused to flow, and a supplement channel for supplying a second reactant at an intermediate portion of the reaction flow channel. A catalyst is provided in the reaction flow channel and promotes the reaction in the reaction fluid. The heat exchanging body has a plurality of holes through which the supplement channel communicates with the reaction flow channel. Steam reforming can be performed using water vapor and hydrocarbon as the first and second reactants.
METHODS FOR ENHANCING ANOMALOUS HEAT GENERATION
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for enhancing anomalous heat generation. An enriched transition metal such as palladium, nickel, zirconium, or ruthenium has a different isotopic composition than the naturally occurring distribution. One or more isotopes of a transition metal are enriched and the concentration of these isotopes is higher than the natural abundance. The enriched transition metal may form metal oxide. It is disclosed herein that plating a reaction chamber with an enriched transition metal or metal oxide having a specific composition improves heat generation in an exothermic reaction.
SYSTEM FOR HYDROGEN LIQUID CARRIER STORAGE
A fuel tank for storing a hydrogen liquid carrier and a spent hydrogen liquid carrier includes a substantially rigid exterior tank wall including a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber is fluidly disconnected from the second chamber, and the second chamber includes a dynamically expandable and contractible enclosure, the enclosure being configured to define a dynamic boundary between the hydrogen liquid carrier and spent hydrogen liquid carrier. The fuel tank also includes a first channel in flow communication with one of the first chamber or the second chamber and a second channel in flow communication with another of the first chamber or the second chamber, wherein the first channel and the second channel are flow connected such that a flow through one of the first or second channels is returned to the another of the first or second channels, and that during the flow, the dynamic boundary changes position causing a change in a volume of the second chamber.
REPLACEABLE MODULAR DEVICE FOR HYDROGEN RELEASE
A modular device for generating hydrogen gas from a hydrogen liquid carrier may include a housing;
an inlet for receiving the hydrogen liquid carrier; and at least one cartridge arranged within the housing. The cartridge may include at least one catalyst configured to cause a release of hydrogen gas when exposed to the hydrogen liquid carrier. The modular device may include a gas outlet for expelling the hydrogen gas released in the modular device and a liquid outlet for expelling spent hydrogen liquid carrier.
HYDROGEN REACTOR WITH CATALYST IN FLOW CONDUIT
A reaction chamber for generating hydrogen gas using a hydrogen liquid carrier line may include a channel including a catalyst for causing the hydrogen gas to be produced from a hydrogen liquid carrier, the channel including an inlet end for the hydrogen liquid carrier and an outlet end for a spent carrier. The reaction chamber may also include a valve for controlling a rate of flow of the hydrogen liquid carrier flowing through the channel; a gas outlet for evacuating the hydrogen gas generated in the channel; and at least one processor configured to receive at least one indicator of a demand for the hydrogen gas and to control the valve to adjust the rate of flow of the hydrogen liquid carrier to meet the demand for the hydrogen gas.
POLYMERISATION PROCESS
The present invention relates to a cascade process useful for (fast) ionic polymerisation of liquid monomer(s) containing reaction mixture for the production of the corresponding polymer(s).
