METHOD FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A FORMULATION AND FORMULATION
Method for the manufacture of a formulation comprising the steps of: i) providing a metal in liquid form; ii) spraying the metal or metal alloy of step i) through a stream of gas under pressure to obtain substantially spherical solid metal particles; iii) mixing the solid metal particles of step ii) and at least a fluoropolymer to obtain said formulation; iv) optionally applying the formulation of step iii) to a surface to obtain a coating, or optionally shaping said formulation to obtain a shaped material.
The present invention further relates to a formulation, a coating or a shaped material, preferably obtained through the method described.
METAL POWDER MANUFACTURING SYSTEM
An ultrafine powder manufacturing system is described. The system comprises a tube made of ceramic or quartz and a fine nozzle integrally formed in the lower part of the tube, wraps the outside of the tube with an induction heater to melt a metal raw material supplied into the tube and cause it to flow through the nozzle, and supplies a spray gas through orifices arranged to surround the nozzle in a state spaced apart from the nozzle to spray the gas onto the flowing melt to manufacture ultrafine powder.
METHOD OF PRODUCING ATOMIZED METAL POWDER
A water-atomized metal powder is produced by dividing a molten metal stream into a metal powder by making injection water having a liquid temperature of 10 C. or less and an injection pressure of 5 MPa or more impinge on the molten metal stream and cooling the metal powder. Cooling with injection water having a liquid temperature of 10 C. or less and an injection pressure of 5 MPa or more enables can be performed not in the film boiling region but in the transition boiling region from the beginning of cooling. A gas-atomized metal powder may also be produced by dividing a molten metal stream into a metal powder by making an inert gas impinge on the molten metal stream and cooling the metal powder with injection water having a liquid temperature of 10 C. or less and an injection pressure of 5 MPa or more.
Free-Machining Powder Metallurgy Steel Articles and Method of Making Same
A method of making a small diameter elongated steel article such as wire or strip is disclosed. The method includes the step of melting a steel alloy having the following weight percent composition.
TABLE-US-00001 C 0.88-1.00 Mn 0.20-0.80 Si 0.50 max. P 0.050 max. S 0.010-0.100 Cr 0.15-0.90 Ni 0.10-0.50 Mo 0.25 max. Cu 0.08-0.23 V 0.025-0.15 N 0.060 max. O 0.040 max.
and the balance is iron and usual impurities. The method includes melting the alloy, atomizing the molten alloy to make a pre-alloyed metal powder, consolidating the metal powder to substantially full density, and then hot working the consolidated metal powder to form an intermediate elongated article. The method further includes a multi-step heat treating process. A small diameter, elongated steel article having enhanced machinability is also disclosed.
METAL POWDER ATOMIZATION MANUFACTURING PROCESSES
There are provided reactive metal powder atomization manufacturing processes. For example, such processes include providing a heated metal source and contact the heated metal source with at least one additive gas while carrying out the atomization process. Such processes provide raw reactive metal powder having improved flowability. The at least one additive gas can be mixed together with an atomization gas to obtain an atomization mixture, and the heated metal source can be contacted with the atomization mixture while carrying out the atomization process. Reactive metal powder spheroidization manufacturing processes are also provided.
