Metal Powder for an Additive Manufacturing Process, Uses of the Metal Powder, Method for Producing a Component, and Component
The invention relates to a metal powder intended for use in an additive manufacturing process, which consists of steel particles having an average diameter of 5-150 μm and consisting of, in mass %, C: 0.15-1.0%, N: 0.15-1.0%, Si, 0.1-2.0%, Mn: 10-25%, Cr: 5-21%, Mo: 0.1-3.0%, Ni: ≤5%, remainder of iron and unavoidable impurities. The metal powder has a flow rate determined in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4490 of less than 30 sec/50 g. Using a metal powder according to the invention, reliable high-load-bearing components can be produced by additive manufacturing. Accordingly, a metal powder according to the invention is particularly suitable for the manufacture of machine elements that are exposed to high loads and of medical components that are used in or on the human or animal body. The invention also provides a method which reliably allows components with optimised mechanical properties to be manufactured from metal powder according to the invention on the basis of an additive manufacturing process.

The invention relates to an EIGA coil (10) for partial melting an electrode (40). The EIGA coil (10) comprises a plurality of windings (12A, 12B, 12C) which are coaxially arranged with respect to a center axis (M) and axially spaced from each other, wherein each of the plurality of windings (12A, 12B, 12C) is formed in the shape of a ring interrupted by a gap (14A, 14B, 14C) and equidistant with respect to the center axis (M) and extending in a plane perpendicular to the center axis (M). Expeditionary additive manufacturing (ExAM) system and method
An expeditionary additive manufacturing (ExAM) system for manufacturing metal parts includes a mobile foundry system configured to produce an alloy powder from a feedstock, and an additive manufacturing system configured to fabricate a part using the alloy powder. The additive manufacturing system includes a computer system having parts data and machine learning programs in signal communication with a cloud service. The parts data can include material specifications, drawings, process specifications, assembly instructions, and product verification requirements for the part. An expeditionary additive manufacturing (ExAM) method for making metal parts includes the steps of transporting the mobile foundry system and the additive manufacturing system to a desired location; making the alloy powder at the location using the mobile foundry system; and building a part at the location using the additive manufacturing system.
