The planar surfaces are at different distances from a central axis of the wedge to place the wedge in a minus, nominal or plus orientation, respectively.
Cutting insert having non-identical rectangular end surfaces with raised and lowered corner portions and cutting tool
A cutting insert has opposing front and back end surfaces with a peripheral side surface extending therebetween and a first axis extending therethrough, and a median plane perpendicular to the first axis located between the front and back end surfaces. Each of the front and back end surfaces has a rectangular shape in a respective end view thereof, and two diagonally opposed raised corners and two diagonally opposed lowered corners with respect to the median plane. The front end surface has a front major cutting edge associated therewith, and in a cross-section taken in a first plane containing the first axis, the front end surface has a concave shape and the back end surface has a convex shape. The cutting insert is removably secured in an insert receiving pocket of a cutting tool with the peripheral side surface and back end surface making contact with pocket support walls.
CUTTING INSERT HAVING NON-IDENTICAL RECTANGULAR END SURFACES WITH RAISED AND LOWERED CORNER PORTIONS AND CUTTING TOOL

DYNAMIC CLAMPING MECHANISM
A cutting tool holder (10) configured for mounting thereon a cutting insert (30) to form a cutting tool (1); the cutting insert (30) has a top face (32T), a bottom face (32B), at least one side wall (32S) extending between the top face (32T) and the bottom face (32B), and an insert bore (35) extending between the top face (32T) and the bottom face (32B); the cutting tool holder (10) comprises a body (12) and a fastening member (50), the body (12) comprising an insert seat (20) having a base surface (22) and being configured for receiving therein the cutting insert (30); and a seat bore (25) having an open end at the base surface (22); the fastening member (50) defines a fastening member axis (XFM) and comprises and shank portion (52) and a head portion (51) extending therealong; the shank portion (52) is configured for being received within the seat bore (25); and the head portion (51) comprises a first clamping region, and a second clamping region axially spaced therefrom and disposed between the shank portion (52) and the first clamping region; the fastening member (50) is configured for assuming a mounting position, in which the fastening member (50) remains in engagement with the seat bore (25) in the mounting position while allowing positioning of the cutting insert (30) into the insert seat (20), and a securing position in which the first and second clamping regions are disposed so as to engage two axially-spaced regions of the cutting insert (30) thereby securing it in the insert seat (20).
Indexing system for a milling tool
A milling tool includes an internal indexing mechanism arranged to displace an indexable cutting insert between an inner supported position and an outer indexing position. The indexable cutting insert has a multi-sided shape as seen in the direction of an insert centre axis and side support surfaces are included in the sides of the multi-sided indexable cutting insert. The internal indexing mechanism is arranged to provide a rectilinear movement along the shaft centre axis, between the inner supported position and the outer indexing position, wherein the indexable cutting insert is free to turn in both directions around the insert centre axis in the outer indexing position.
