Systems and methods for relay logic for isolation of the grid and forming of a single-phase island
A system for improving grid reliability in remote or isolated locations includes a battery tripping module, the battery tripping module determining whether a microgrid zone may be formed upon a fault. The system further includes a microgrid formation module, the microgrid formation module forming a microgrid zone, the microgrid zone connected to a BESS (battery electric storage system), the BESS providing power to the microgrid.
SELF-RECOVERING LASER SAFETY SYSTEM WITH AUTOMATIC DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
A diagnostic system for a high power laser system, which detects and responds to malfunctions in interlocks of the laser safety system. A fault detected in any interlock circuit mandates a limitation in the operating conditions of the laser, or even a shutdown. In order to distinguish between transient faults, arising typically from ambient conditions, and more permanent faults, arising from faulty components or circuits, and which require external intervention to rectify, the system uses a database of possible fault classifications to determine the likely type of fault. If the fault is likely transient, the laser is maintained in a reduced power state, until one or more temporary interlocks are applied as backup for the failed interlocks, so that the system can be repeatedly tested for fault correction at full power output. Once the fault recovers, the backup interlocks may be disabled and the system returned to full operation.
Power socket for reducing wastage of electrical energy and related aspects
An electrical power socket including: an electrical power outlet; a power input configured to supply power to the power outlet; one relay configured to control delivery of electrical power via the power outlet; a power monitor configured to monitor the operational state of the power outlet and characteristics of power drawn from the power outlet. The electrical power socket further includes a microcontroller being configurable to: capture monitored data; send the captured data via a data network interface to a remote energy monitoring system; receive data from the remote energy monitoring system; and control the one relay to manage delivery of power via a power outlet responsive to a determination that the power outlet is delivering power associated with a wasted energy usage classification.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DYNAMIC RATING OF POWER GRIDS
A system for dynamic rating of a power grid may include a plurality of terminal units, and a controller. The terminal units may detect a voltage phasor and a current phasor at nodes of the power grid. The controller may, based on the voltage phasors and the current phasors of the plurality of nodes, determine a dynamic thermal stability power rating for each line, a dynamic angular stability power rating for each node, and a dynamic voltage stability power rating for each node. The controller may, based on the dynamic thermal stability power rating, the dynamic angular stability power rating, and the dynamic voltage stability power rating, determine a dynamic system rating for the power grid. The controller may control the power grid in response to the dynamic system rating.
Innovative Electrical Panel
An innovative electrical panel configured to switch between solar/battery mode and power grid mode connected to a main input power source and a solar input power source, a battery input power source or any combination thereof wherein one or more standard circuit breakers or one or more custom wireless circuit breakers are configured to utilize one or more fast-switching components that are configured to alternate one or more circuit breakers between the main input power source and the solar, a battery or any combination thereof, input power source.
System and method for energy management of a power distribution panel
There are systems and methods for energy management of a power distribution panel. Circuit breakers and an energy management gateway are located in the power distribution panel, and an internal panel communication network is established among the circuit breakers and the gateway. The gateway exchanges data of the circuit breakers and sends commands to control the circuit breakers. The gateway provides the data to an external device that is part of a network external to the internal panel communication network for controlling one or more appliances.
CONTROL DEVICE, PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM
A control device includes a memory, in which at least one program is stored, and a processor configured to operate by executing the at least one program. The processor is further configured to obtain information on whether a photovoltaic system is connected to a power grid, obtain input power, which the photovoltaic system is able to supply, and output power required by a load connected to the photovoltaic system and the power grid, and control one of a photovoltaic module and an energy storage system, which are included in the photovoltaic system, based on connection or disconnection of the power grid, the input power, and the output power.
DISTRIBUTED ENERGY STORAGE
A distributed energy storage unit (DES) is disclosed. The DES unit includes a combined input/output terminal configured to be coupled to an external circuit, power conversion circuitry operably coupled to the combined input/output terminal, an energy storage device operably coupled to the power conversion circuitry, and a controller. The DES unit is configured to operate the power conversion circuitry to provide charging power, derived from the input power, to the energy storage device, identify whether the external circuit is not receiving input power, and operate, in response to the external circuit not receiving the input power, the power conversion circuitry to provide backup power, derived from energy stored on the energy storage device, to the combined input/output terminal. Non-transitory computer readable medium for operating the DES unit and methods of providing output power from a DES unit are also disclosed.
Configuring communications for a load control system
A load control system may include multiple control devices that may send load control messages to load control devices for controlling an amount of power provided electrical loads. To prevent collision of the load control messages, the load control messages may be transmitted using different wireless communication channels. Each wireless communication channel may be assigned to a load control group that may include control devices and load control devices capable of communicating with one another on the assigned channel. A control device may send load control messages to a load control device within a transmission frame allocated for transmitting load control messages. The transmission frame may include equal sub-frames and load control messages may be sent at a random time within each sub-frame. Control devices may detect a status event within a sampling interval to offset transmissions from multiple control devices based on detection of the same event.
