PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PLASTIC LENS AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING PLASTIC LENS

A process for producing a plastic lens includes a step of stirring and mixing a solution including a polymerization reactive compound in a preparation tank; a step of transferring the polymerizable composition obtained in the step from the preparation tank to a lens casting mold; a step of curing the polymerizable composition; and a step of obtaining a plastic lens molded product by separating the obtained resin from the lens casting mold. The step of transferring the polymerizable composition includes a step of re-mixing the polymerizable composition discharged from the preparation tank and injecting the polymerizable composition into the lens casting mold.

FEEDSTOCK HOMOGENIZER WITH INTEGRATED SEPARATOR
20240239017 · 2024-07-18 · ·

A homogenizer for homogenously blending a feedstock includes a separator, an agitator and a hopper integrated as a single unit in a common housing. The separator receives a material feed, in the form of a fluid medium carrying a composite feedstock, and separates the composite feedstock from the fluid medium. The agitator receives the separated composite feedstock from the separator, and mixes the composite feedstock to yield the homogenously blended feedstock. The hopper receives the homogenously blended feedstock from the agitator and holds the homogenously blended feedstock for release to either a processing machine or a storage container. The homogenizer is controlled by one or more control units that use signals received from a sensor in the hopper to control the delivery of a material feed to the homogenizer, and the flow of feedstock therethrough.

POLYARYLETHER KETONE COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD OF COATING A METAL SURFACE

A polyaryl ether ether composition(C) and methods of uses thereof are herein disclosed. The composition comprises a polymer blend [blend (B)] consisting of: a first polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK-1)and a second polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK-2), wherein the (PAEK-1) is crystalline and exhibits a melting temperature T.sub.m of 330 C. or higher and the (PAEK-2) is either amorphous or crystalline and exhibits a melting temperature T.sub.m of 315 C. or lower and wherein the (PAEK-1) constitutes more than 0% wt of blend (B). Composition (C) can be used in particular for the manufacture of coated metal surfaces, in particular for the coating of wires or of (part of) electronic devices.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A THERMOPLASTIC GRANULATE MATERIAL

In the production of thermoplastic granulate material, after mixing the starting materials, it is common in the state of the art for these materials to be kneaded and compressed in extruders, with subsequent granulation. According to the invention, no extruder is used, rather the starting materials for the thermoplastic granulate material are supplied directly to a double belt press after the mixing. Subsequently, the generated web-type to sheet-type body is processed into a granulate material by means of grinding, or is used as a web-type, sheet-type, strip-type or film-type intermediate product for the production of a further intermediate product or end products.

MIXING PADDLE FOR A GRAVIMETRIC BLENDER

A mixing paddle configured for use with a gravimetric blender. The mixing paddle has a first rotor; a second rotor spaced axial from the first rotor; and at least one mixing blade disposed between the first rotor and the second rotor. The at least one mixing blade of the mixing paddle includes an inner edge having a first sloped portion and a second sloped portion directed inward toward a middle portion of the at least one mixing blade. The mixing blade is configured to be narrower in the middle portion between the outer edge and the inner edge than at a first end and second end.

High Viscosity Metallocene Polymers with Low Volatiles Content

High Mooney viscosity elastomers having low volatiles content, and processes for producing such elastomers, are provided herein. In particular aspects, the elastomers are metallocene-catalyzed elastomers, such as mEPDM elastomers. Processes for producing such elastomers include devolatilization of an elastomer stream comprising such elastomers, using a kneader. The kneader is counterintuitively operated such that the internal agitating paddles rotate at relatively low speeds. It is believed these low speeds help maintain the elastomer stream as a toffee-like composition, preventing the elastomer stream within the kneader from becoming a crumbly composition, which is difficult to devolatilize.
