A polymer composition capable of being additively manufactured includes a polymer matrix and a magnetically receptive additive. The polymer composition may be additively manufactured or extruded to form a tool which may be used to form a composite part.

POLYMER MATRIX COMPOSITE REPAIR
A procedure for repairing a polymer matrix composite component is provided. The procedure includes the steps of: providing a polymer matrix composite component having a site prepared for repair by removal of damaged or defective material; locating an uncured, polymer matrix composite repair patch at the site to re-build the component thereat; and curing the polymer matrix of the repair patch by heating the patch using eddy currents induced by one or more alternating current coils. The repair patch is without metallic additives, such that the repaired polymer matrix composite after the curing step is also without metallic additives in the vicinity of the repair patch.
Curing composites out-of-autoclave using induction heating with smart susceptors
A composite part is cured out-of-autoclave using an inductively heated, stand-alone tooling. The part in placed on a tool and is covered by a heating blanket. One side of the part is heated by inductive coil circuits in the tool, and the other side of the part is heated by inductive coil circuits in the blanket.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method for creating a solidified material using a machine tool. In some aspects, the machine tool supplies a current to an induction coil such that the induction coil generates a magnetic field. The machine tool changes the magnetic field to induce eddy currents in a first conductor surrounding a feedstock and a second conductor surrounded by the feedstock. The machine tool uses the eddy currents to cause the feedstock to transition from a solid state to a uniform malleable state regardless of the feedstock's electrical conductivity.

Methods related to inductive heating in extruders. In some embodiments, a method for heating a feedstock or liquid material can include providing a heating body having inlet and outlet orifices connected via a passage or passages or mixing chamber to define a nozzle, and forming a magnetic loop with a coil of conductive wire wound through the center and around the outside of a core of magnetic but electrically non-conductive or low-conductivity material. The method can further include a high-frequency alternating current applied to the coil, producing a magnetic flux locally heating the nozzle. Some embodiments have passive regulation or limiting of nozzle temperature by selection of a core material with an appropriate Curie temperature.
