An injection molded thermoplastic preform for blow moulding to form a container, the preform base of a central part having a first, downwardly and radially inwardly tapering portion therebetween which increases in thickness from a radially outer end of the first tapering portion adjacent to the hollow transition portion to a radially inner end of the first tapering portion adjacent to the gate part and the middle part opposite the gate part can allow the injected resin to be urged back through the gate at the end of the injection moulding cycle at a lower fluid pressure in the vicinity of the gate which is associated with high resin temperatures. The technical effect achieved by the first tapering portion is that crystallinity in the gate area is minimized or eliminated, which avoids or minimizes partial blocking of the gate which would otherwise restrict the injected resin from being urged back through the gate at the end of the injection moulding cycle.

Injection molded window and method

An injection molded part for a motor vehicle includes a film having a scratch-resistant layer, a plastic substrate molded to the film, wherein the plastic substrate is at least partially transparent or translucent, and a scratch-resistant coating molded to the plastic substrate on a side opposite the film.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PARTS HAVING INCREASED IMPACT PERFORMANCE BY USE OF AN INJECTION MOLDING FOAMING PROCESS IN COMBINATION WITH A MOLD CORE-BACK PROCESS

A process of making a part with improved mechanical performance and improved impact performance compared to a solid part with a same weight by a disclosed foaming process. The process including introducing a glass fiber filled polymeric material to a hopper (128) of an injection molding machine, melting the glass fiber filled polymeric material to form a melt in a plasticizing unit (100), and pressurizing the plasticizing unit (100) of the injection molding machine with a blowing agent. The process further including dissolving the blowing agent into the melt, injecting the melt into a mold cavity (408) of a mold up to 100% of volume, and reconfiguring the mold to increase a size of the mold cavity (408) after a predetermined time after a delivery of the melt. A part made by the process and the device for making the part are also disclosed.

An apparatus includes a mold. The mold has a first mold part with a first interior surface and a second mold part with a second interior surface. The apparatus additionally includes a movable member disposed proximate the mold. The movable member is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the movable member cooperates with the first interior surface and second interior surface to define a first mold cavity, and in the second position the movable member cooperates with the first interior surface and second interior surface to define a second mold cavity. The second mold cavity has a shape distinct from the first mold cavity.

FOAM MOLDING MANUFACTURING METHOD

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a molded foam product which can reduce blisters on the surface and foaming failure in injection molding of a molten resin containing a fluid in a supercritical state even in the case of manufacturing a molded product designed to have a small thickness, thereby giving a molded foam product having excellent heat insulation. The method of the present invention is a method for manufacturing a molded foam product through injection molding of a molten resin containing a fluid in a supercritical state, the method including a step of injecting the molten resin into a cavity formed in a mold and moving a portion of the mold to increase the volume of the cavity before the molten resin injected into the cavity completely solidifies, the cavity being communicated only with a single resin injection port, the mold having a dimple which has a substantially hemispherical shape and is situated to face the resin injection port, the mold having a minimum gap size of 0.2 mm or greater in the cavity during injection of the molten resin.
