POLYMER EXTRUDERS WITH A DUAL VACUUM ARRANGEMENT AND RELATED METHODS
20180250864 · 2018-09-06 ·

In particular embodiments, a process for producing bulked continuous carpet filament from recycled polymer utilizes two vacuum pumps in combination with a single extruder. In various embodiments, the dual vacuum arrangement (e.g., at least two vacuum pumps) operably coupled to the single extruder (e.g., MRS extruder) may be configured remove one or more impurities from recycled polymer as the recycled polymer passes through the extruder such that the process: (1) is more effective than earlier processes in removing contaminates and water from the recycled polymer; (2) allows for an increased throughput through a single extruder, which may result in a doubling of a number of thread lines produced from a single extruder; (3) results in a desired intrinsic viscosity for the extruded recycled polymer at the increased throughput; and/or (4) reduces an amount of downtime of a particular production line as a result of cleaning the two vacuum pumps.

INSULATION MODULE FOR MOTOR VEHICLE AND MOTOR VEHICLE
20180208132 · 2018-07-26 · ·

An insulation module for a floor of a motor vehicle includes a panel of a molded and bound fiber material. The panel extends along a longitudinal axis (X). At least one notch is formed in the thickness direction (D) of the panel and extends at an angle between 0 and 30 to the longitudinal axis (X). At least one incision is formed in an outer edge of the panel and extends at an angle between 80 and 100 to the longitudinal axis (X) of the panel.

METHOD FOR PROCESSING PRODUCTS IN AN EXTRUDER

The invention relates to the production of PSA in a planetary gear extruder. During filling and after passing a passage on a dispersing ring using a lateral arm extruder, the products are degassed.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE COLORING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20180126595 · 2018-05-10 ·

A method of manufacturing a plurality of colors of bulked continuous carpet filament from a single multi-screw extruder which, in various embodiments, comprises: (A) passing PET through an extruder that melts the PET and purifies the resulting PET polymer melt; (B) splitting the extruded polymer melt into a plurality of melt streams and adding a colorant to each of the plurality of melt streams; (C) using one or more static mixers (e.g., thirty six static mixers) to substantially uniformly mix (e.g., homogeneously mix) each of the plurality of melt streams with its respective added colorant; and (D) feed each of the uniformly mixed and colored plurality of melt streams into a respective spinning machines that turns the polymer into filament for use in manufacturing carpet, rugs, and other products.

Non-chemical, mechanical procedure for the devulcanization of scrap rubber and/or elastomers and apparatus therefor
09926426 · 2018-03-27 · ·

Method of devulcanizing rubber and/or elastomers without the need for a chemical agent, in which method the vulcanized rubber and/or elastomers are fed into a planetary roller extruder, which planetary roller extruder has a housing, a central spindle, and at least one group of planetary spindles. Mechanical and thermal stress is generated on the vulcanized rubber and/or elastomers by kneading and/or crushing the vulcanized rubber and/or elastomers using the central spindle and the planetary spindles. The mechanical and thermal stress alone is sufficient to break or destroy the molecular chains or bonds of the vulcanized rubber and/or elastomers.
