Some embodiments have one or more longitudinally extending, longitudinally spaced series of annular sets of circumferentially spaced shaft teeth. Some embodiments have one or more helically extending series of spaced-apart cuspidate shaft teeth. The mixing section may be received in a mixing section barrel to form a mixing portion of a screw extruder.

Systems and methods are provided for fabrication of short-fiber composites. One embodiment is a method for forming a short-fiber composite. The method includes forming a bed of randomly oriented dry fibers on a base, drawing resin into the bed in response to pressure to form a mixture of randomly oriented fibers impregnated with thermoset resin, perturbing the mixture while preserving fiber length at the mixture and degassing the mixture, and extruding the mixture to form a preform.

The invention relates to a method and to an assembly for recycling plastic materials, comprising the following processing steps: a) reprocessing the raw material, wherein the material, if necessary, is comminuted and brought into a fluid-like form and heated and permanently mixed, while preserving the lumpiness and pourability thereof, and optionally the viscosity thereof is increased and/or it is degassed, softened, dried and/or crystallized; b) melting the reprocessed material, at least so much that filtration is possible; c) filtering the melt in order to remove impurities; d) homogenizing the filtered melt; e) degassing the homogenized melt; and f) discharging and/or subsequently processing the melt, such as by granulation, blown film processing, with said processing steps being carried out consecutively in the order listed (FIG. 2).
