TRANSPARENT MATERIAL PROCESSING WITH AN ULTRASHORT PULSE LASER
A method for scribing transparent materials uses ultrashort laser pulses to create multiple scribe features with a single pass of the laser beam across the material, with at least one of the scribe features being formed below the surface of the material. This enables clean breaking of transparent materials at a higher speed than conventional techniques.
WELDING SYSTEM
A system for welding an elongate element along a longitudinal direction to a component including a support element comprising a support surface, a magnetic field generating arrangement generating a predefined magnetic field, a carriage comprising contacts supporting an elongate element against movement along the surface of the component in directions perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, a superconducting element being fixedly connected to the carriage, an element cooling device for cooling the superconducting element below its transition temperature, a mover operable to linearly move the carriage, and a welding device for welding the elongate element to the component. The predefined magnetic field defines a linear path along the support surface for the superconducting element when the superconducting element has a temperature below its transition temperature.

Closures with a tamper evidence feature that is reshaped to connect it to the container neck are disclosed. Methods and systems for carrying out the methods, and to mold stacks for making the closures are also disclosed. The tamper evidence feature can be a band, a portion of a cylindrical skirt or a panel formed in the cylindrical skirt. The application of heat may deform the band inwardly to create a lip for engaging a flange on the container neck, or it may weld the tamper evidence feature to the flange

Apparatus for laser transmission welding, method for laser transmission welding, and a receptacle which is produced thereby and is closed by sheet
A method for producing a receptacle which is closed by a sheet by transmission laser welding, and to an apparatus suitable to carry out same. The method and the apparatus are configured in such a way that a weld seam is formed between the wall structure of the receptacle and the sheet so as to be wider than the end faces of the wall structure.

Method for manufacturing liquid supply member and method for manufacturing liquid discharge head
A method for manufacturing a liquid supply member that supplies a discharge port with liquid includes preparing a transparent member and an absorption member, at least one of both members having a groove for a supply path; bringing both members into contact; and forming the supply path by emitting laser beams simultaneously from a plurality of laser beam sources, toward a contact portion, which is provided in a vicinity of the groove and at which both members are in contact, to weld both members. Laser beams are emitted during the forming such that a total laser-beam irradiation amount per unit area for a first portion included in the contact portion and located in a vicinity of an end in a longitudinal direction of the groove is larger than that for part with a smallest irradiation amount of a second portion other than the first portion of the contact portion.
Vent structure and method of manufacturing the same
A vent structure includes: a first housing component having an opening portion for ventilation; a gas-permeable membrane that is attached to the first housing component to close the opening portion; and a laser welding portion that joins the first housing component with the gas-permeable membrane. The gas-permeable membrane includes a main body including a fluororesin film and a porous resin sheet that is laid on the main body. The porous resin sheet is located on the surface side of the vent structure. Both of the main body and the outer peripheral portion of the porous resin sheet that projects outwardly from the main body are fixed to the first housing component by the laser welding portion.
CONNECTION METHOD IN ADDITION TO A FUNCTIONAL PART WHICH CAN BE USED THEREFOR, AND FLAME-RETARDANT TOTAL SYSTEM PRODUCED THEREBY
The invention relates to a connection method in addition to a functional part which can be used therefor and to a flame-retardant total system produced in accordance therewith. The invention relates to a method for connecting a single- or multilayer functional part (10) to a third component (20), wherein the functional part (10) has functional elements (14, 16) projecting on at least one side. Said method is characterized in that the functional part (10) is formed at least partially from a material which is at least partially transparent to laser light, and in that a blocking layer (18) is disposed so as to be at least partially opaque to laser light in such a way that after passage of the laser light through the functional part (10) the laser light inside the blocking layer (18) generates heat by absorption which is suitable for melting the functional part (10) and/or the third component (20) in order to connect them to one another in this way.
Cell-like structure manufacturing method, cell-like structure and corresponding equipment
Method for manufacturing a cell-like honeycomb structure, formed from a plurality of thermoplastic sheets attached to each other, wherein contoured areas are provided in each sheet, and each free sheet is attached to an adjacent sheet of an intermediate block formed by the different sheets previously attached therebetween, welding at least some of the flat areas contacting this free sheet and this adjacent sheet with a laser source along a continuous line parallel to the contour axis.
