HYDROPHOBIC AND OLEOPHOBIC NANOCOMPOSITE MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MAKING SAME, AND ENCAPSULATING STRUCTURE UTILIZING SAME
A method for making an oil- and water-resistant nanocomposite material includes preparing F-doped TiO.sub.2 nanorods, dispersing the F-doped TiO.sub.2 nanorods into a transparent adhesive to obtain a nanocomposite adhesive, and treating a surface of the nanocomposite adhesive to roughen the surface and expose some of the F-doped TiO.sub.2 nanorods. A transparent nanocomposite material suitable for use as transparent packaging for example is thereby obtained. The present disclosure also provides the nanocomposite material, and an encapsulating structure using the nanocomposite material.
MACHINING METHOD, APPLICATION TOOL, AND MACHINING ARRANGEMENT FOR MODIFYING OR REPAIRING A SURFACE SPOT OF A WORKPIECE SURFACE OF A FIBER COMPOSITE WORKPIECE
To reduce the processing time in the case of repairing of excessively countersunk bolt openings or surface damage in fiber composite workpieces, it is proposed to countersink the corresponding surface spot to produce a contact surface and a depression for a fiber composite insert body. The fiber composite insert body is placed onto the contact surface and is fixed on the fiber composite workpiece in the depression. In the case of an excessively countersunk bolt opening, a new bolt opening is drilled into the fiber composite insert body, which new bolt opening is subsequently countersunk to the correct countersunk bore depth. In the case of the method, a three-legged application tool can be used which positions and orients the fiber composite insert body correctly and presses it onto the fiber composite workpiece during the curing of the adhesive.

A method for bonding two elements, the method including receiving first and second elements, the first element being a composite material; applying a laser-based treatment to a surface of the first element to obtain a treated surface; patterning the treated surface to have plural trenches; applying an adhesive to one of the first and second elements; and joining the first element to the second element so that the adhesive is between the first and second elements.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE MEMBER AND THE COMPOSITE MEMBER
A method of manufacturing a composite member including an aluminum member and a resin member bonded to each other, the method including: performing blasting on a surface of the aluminum member; modifying the surface of the aluminum member into aluminum hydroxide, the modifying including causing the surface of the aluminum member having undergone blasting to react with water by using at least one of heat and plasma; and directly bonding the resin member to the surface of the aluminum member modified to the aluminum hydroxide.
Amalgamation joining methods and apparatuses
A method or apparatus for joining a first component to a second component with an amalgamation plate includes heating the first component, the second component, the amalgamation plate, or combinations thereof, with either a joining tool or a heating element. The components are attached to the amalgamation plate with the joining tool, such that the first component, amalgamation plate, and the second component are fixedly attached to one another, and the amalgamation plate may be substantially surrounded by the first component and the second component, such that it is hidden from exposure. Portions of the amalgamation plate may be embedded into the components via rotation and/or linear force. A portion of the amalgamation plate may be recessed within the joining tool or an anvil before attaching the amalgamation plate to the either component.
CONTACT WELDING HEATING COMPONENT AND AUTOMATIC WELDING MACHINE
A contact welding heating component and automatic welding machine for plasticizing the edges of thermally fusible/meltable material sheets disposed so as to overlap at least partially. A roughening device for the material sheets, which is disposed upstream of the trailing-material edge of the heating component in the direction of movement of the contact welding heating component, protrudes beyond the upper side of the heating component and/or the lower side of the heating component, wherein the roughening device extends transversely to the direction of movement of the contact welding heating component, adjoining the trailing-material edge of the heating component, and includes a number of sharp-edged raised roughening elements extending in the direction of movement of the contact welding heating component, preferably having a variable height in the direction of movement of the contact welding heating component. The automatic welding machine includes a contact welding heat component thus designed.
Polyurethane bonding process for fuel bladders
A method of bonding a metal fitting to a polyurethane structure, the method comprising abrading a surface of the metal fitting with an abrasive; cleaning the metal fitting with a solvent; cleaning a surface of the polyurethane structure with an alcohol; applying a primer to the surface of the metal fitting; applying an adhesive to the surface of the metal fitting and the surface of the polyurethane structure; applying a liquid polyurethane compound to the surface of the metal fitting and the surface of the polyurethane structure; and pressing the surface of the metal fitting against the surface of the polyurethane structure to form an assembly. The primer can comprise a first resin and a first catalyst in a ratio of about 1.1 to 1; the adhesive can comprise a second resin and a second catalyst in a ratio of about 3 to 1; and the liquid polyurethane compound can comprise a third resin and a third catalyst in a ratio of about 10 to 1.

An electronic module has a first circuit board element, a second circuit board element, and a spacer. Together, the first circuit board element, the second circuit board element, and the spacer enclose a central cavity, in which components attached to the first circuit board element are accommodated. Respective annular circumferential microstructures are provided on a surface of the first circuit board element directed outward and on a surface of the second circuit board element directed outward, adjacent to an outer periphery of the first circuit board element. In this region, a sealing ring is formed, which has a form-closed connection to both the first and the second circuit board element by means of the microstructures of the first and the second circuit board element. The sealing ring can be made of a resistant plastic, which is molded on by injection molding in the liquid state in the region of the outer periphery of the first circuit board element and flows into recesses of the microstructures and, after the curing, forms the form-closed and sealing connection between the two circuit board elements and the sealing ring thereby formed.
Apparatus for threading an intermediate transfer member of a printing system
A printing system is described that has an intermediate transfer member in the form of a seamed endless belt for transporting an ink image from an image forming station, at which an ink image is deposited on the intermediate transfer member, to an impression station, where the ink image is transferred onto a printing substrate. The belt has along its edges formations of a greater thickness than the belt. The formations are received in channels to guide the belt and maintain the belt under lateral tension. Two drive members are provided, each located within a respective one of the channels. The two drive members are connected for movement in synchronism with one another and each has a respective laterally projecting gripper shaped for form locking engagement with the formations on a leading end of a strip from which the intermediate transfer member is to be formed. Rotation of the drive members during installation of a new intermediate transfer member serves to thread the strip through the printing system by pulling the strip from its leading end.
Joining method and machining head and manufacturing machine for carrying out the method
A joining method for connecting at least two thermoplastic workpieces is provided to permit the joining even of non-transparent carbon fiber reinforced plastics parts by means of laser welding, in which a splice is produced at the edge regions of the workpieces and the workpieces are subsequently positioned relative to one another in such a manner that the opposite splice regions bound a seam region. Connecting bodies are then inserted into the seam region and heated by means of local heat input by laser beam such that a fixed integrally bonded connection forms between the workpieces and the connecting bodies.
