RECOMBINANT CONSTRUCTS AND TRANSGENIC FLUORESCENT ORNAMENTAL FISH THEREFROM
The present invention relates to the method and use of reef coral fluorescent proteins in making transgenic red, green and yellow fluorescent zebrafish. Preferably, such fluorescent zebrafish are fertile and used to establish a population of transgenic zebrafish and to provide to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing. Thus, new varieties of ornamental fish of different fluorescence colors from a novel source are developed.
Light-activated cation channel and uses thereof
The present invention provides compositions and methods for light-activated cation channel proteins and their uses within cell membranes and subcellular regions. The invention provides for proteins, nucleic acids, vectors and methods for genetically targeted expression of light-activated cation channels to specific cells or defined cell populations. In particular the invention provides millisecond-timescale temporal control of cation channels using moderate light intensities in cells, cell lines, transgenic animals, and humans. The invention provides for optically generating electrical spikes in nerve cells and other excitable cells useful for driving neuronal networks, drug screening, and therapy.
AQUAPONICS SYSTEM WITH A TERRACED GROW FLOOR
An aquaponics system includes an aquaculture production system comprising multiple fish tanks and a grow floor configured as a terraced floor for growing plants and/or crops. The multiple fish tanks are configured and organized to rear fish from fry to adults. The grow floor has a continuous downward spiral toward one or more clean water tanks. The one or more clean water tanks receive water from the grow floor and deliver the water to the aquaculture production system by a pipe. The water circulates through the multiple fish tanks and a pump returns water to the grow floor. The aquaculture production system and the grow floor are arranged within an enclosed building with the aquaculture production system arranged below the grow floor such that an open space is created between the aquaculture production system and the grow floor.
WATER QUALITY ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM
A water quality adjustment system includes a measurement section which measures the ammonia nitrogen concentration of breeding water in a breeding tank for breeding an aquatic organism, a judgment section which judges whether or not the ammonia nitrogen concentration measured by the measurement section has exceeded a threshold value, and an adjustment section configured such that, when the judgment section judges that the ammonia nitrogen concentration has exceeded the threshold value, the adjustment section performs, as an adjustment operation, at least one of an operation of lowering the temperature of the breeding water, an operation of lowering the pH of the breeding water, and an operation of increasing the salinity concentration of the breeding water.
Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with Altered PAM Specificity
Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered and improved PAM specificities and their use in genomic engineering, epigenomic engineering, and genome targeting.
HEAT EXCHANGE SYSTEM FOR WATER TEMPERATURE CONTROL
A heat exchange system includes a water flow casing shaped like an open box and having a flow space defined therein and water inlet/outlet pipes for guiding a water into the flow space or for guiding the water out of the flow space, a thermoelectric cooling chip fastened to the open side of the water flow casing with the cold side facing toward the flow space for cooling the water, a heat dissipating unit fastened to the opposing hot side of the thermoelectric cooling chip for dissipating heat from the thermoelectric cooling chip, and a water pump adapted for pumping the water through the water inlet/outlet pipes and flow space of the water flow casing for cooling.
METHODS OF TREATING DISORDERS WITH GLYCOSYLATION DEFECTIVE PROTEINS
A method of treating a glycosylation-defective protein associated disease or disorder in a subject, the method includes administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a Sarco/ER ATPase (SERCA) inhibitor.
Method of Predicting Central Fishing Ground of Flying Squid Family Ommastrephidae
A method of predicting a central fishing ground of flying squid family Ommastrephidae, includes three steps of setting spatial and temporal dimension, setting environmental factor, and establishing a central fishing ground prediction model. The spatial and temporal dimension includes three levels of spatial dimensions, and two levels of temporal dimensions of week and month. An SST is selected as a main environmental factor, and two environmental factors, i.e., SSH and Chl-a, are selected as a supplement. The environmental factors include four situations. According to the setting situations of the spatial and temporal dimension and the environmental factor, a set of sample schemes of 24 situations is established using permutation and combination method. An error backward propagation neural network model is established, wherein an input layer inputs data of the sample scheme set, and an output layer outputs a CPUE or a fishing ground grading index converted from the CPUE.
ELECTRIC DEVICE AND ELECTRIC FIELD BARRIER FORMING DEVICE
An electronic device for repelling fish with Lorenzini organs includes (1) a generator having a power supply and output terminals including a first output terminal and a second output terminal, for converting a DC voltage supplied from the power supply to an AC voltage having an amplitude of less than 100V and outputting the AC voltage from the output terminals, (2) at least one electric wire, one or each of which is connected to one or both of the first output terminal and the second output terminal, and (3) a power switch that forms an electric circuit together with the generator and the at least one electric wire to turn on and off the output from the power supply, and that causes the power supply to supply a DC voltage when the first output terminal and the second output terminal are electrically connected via the seawater.
RED TRANSGENIC FLUORESCENT ORNAMENTAL FISH
The present invention relates to transgenic red ornamental fish, as well as methods of making such fish by in vitro fertilization techniques. Also disclosed are methods of establishing a population of such transgenic fish and methods of providing them to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing.
