A cover for a housing of a vehicle and a method of sealing a cover to the housing, where in at least one example, the cover comprises a cover body configured to cover an opening of the housing and to engage the housing at an interface around the opening. The cover may comprise a heating element embedded within the cover body and operable to at least partially melt a portion of the cover body as a part of a process for sealing the cover to the housing. The portion of the cover body may deform and conform to an interface feature at the mating surface of the housing due to the at least partial melting of the portion of the cover body, and, in some examples, the heating element may be configured to fail and be inoperable.

A method of bonding a connector to a first object includes providing the connector, the connector being separate from the first object and including a thermoplastic material; arranging the first object and the connector relative to one another so that the connector reaches from a proximal side of the object through a first opening in the object; generating and applying vibrations and mechanical pressure to the connector until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material is liquefied and caused to flow sideways radially into an open space; and removing the source of the vibrations and causing the liquefied thermoplastic material to re-solidify, resulting in the connector with a foot portion, a head portion, and a shaft portion between the foot portion and the head portion. The shaft portion extends along an axis through the first opening, and secures the connector to the first object.

Crimping methods for thin-walled scaffolds

A medical device includes a balloon expanded scaffold crimped to a catheter having a balloon. The scaffold has a network of rings formed by struts connected at crowns and links connecting adjacent rings. The scaffold is crimped to the balloon by a process that includes using protective polymer sheaths or sheets during crimping, and adjusting the sheaths or sheets during the crimping to avoid or minimize interference between the polymer material and scaffold struts as the scaffold is reduced in size.

SECURING A SECOND OBJECT TO A FIRST OBJECT

A method of mechanically securing a first object including a thermoplastic material in a solid state to a second object with a generally flat sheet portion, with a perforation of the sheet portion, and with the sheet portion having an edge along the perforation is provided, wherein the first object is positioned relative to the second object so that the edge is in contact with the thermoplastic material and wherein mechanical vibration energy is coupled into the assembly including the first and second objects until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material due to friction heat generated between the edge and the thermoplastic material becomes flowable and flows around the edge to at least partially embed the edge in the thermoplastic material. After the mechanical vibration stops, the thermoplastic material is caused to re-solidify, whereby the re-solidified thermoplastic material at least partially embedding the edge anchors the first object in the second object.

The present disclosure provides a polyester composition suitable for ultrasonic welding and preparation method thereof, the composition includes the following components in parts by weight: 3050 parts of poly(1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate), 4060 parts of ABS, 510 parts of a melt enhancer, 0.11 parts of an antioxidant, and 0.11 parts of a lubricant. Compared with the existing technologies, the polyester composition provided by the present disclosure improves melt strength by using the melt enhancer. The melt enhancer used is an ultra-high density polyethylene resin having a glycidyl methacrylate group after an irradiation treatment, so that the compatibility of the melt enhancer to the poly(1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate) is improved. In addition, by controlling a glass-transition temperature of the composition, no chipping is generated during ultrasonic welding, and the composition has a high welding strength, which is suitable for ultrasonic welding.
