Molded part
An additional pad 27 is additionally and integrally arranged from an outer surface of a flange 17 opposite to a contacting side of the flange 17 to a small-diameter curved surface of a bend 19 and from there to an end of an outer surface of a part body 13. On an outer surface side of the additional pad 27, a fastening seat 27f is formed by machining. An area end PAe of a processed area PA formed by machining is positioned on the part body 13 beyond the bend 19.
Co-curing process for the joining of composite structures
A method of fabricating a composite assembly may include providing a first laminate and a second laminate respectively formed of first and second composite plies, and having a respective first and second cured section and a respective first and second uncured section. The method may further include interleaving the first composite plies in the first uncured section with the second composite plies in the second uncured section to form an interfacial region. The method may additionally include curing the interfacial region to join the first laminate to the second laminate and form a unitized composite assembly.
ASSEMBLY HOLDER AND ASSEMBLY
A module mount having at least one module that can be mounted on the module mount, wherein the module can be mounted on the module mount via at least one caulking element, such that the respective caulking element, which is composed of a thermoplastic, extends through a hole in a section of the respective module that can be mounted on the module mount made of a thermoplastic or thermoset, and is hot-caulked at an end projecting out of the hole, wherein at least one projection is formed on the section of the respective module that can be mounted on the module mount in the region of the respective hole of the section of the respective module that can be mounted on the module mount made of the thermoplastic or thermoset, which projection is engaged in a press fit with the hot-caulked end of the respective caulking element.
Composite filler
A method and apparatus is presented. A layer of composite material is laid up on a forming tool. A bend is formed in the layer on the forming tool to form a bent layer. A laminate stack and the bent layer are assembled to form the composite filler.
Methods of co-bonding a first thermoset composite and a second thermoset composite to define a cured composite part
Methods of co-bonding a first thermoset composite (TSC) and a second TSC to define a cured composite part are disclosed herein. The methods include partially curing the first TSC to a target state of cure (SOC) to define a first partially cured TSC. The partially curing is based, at least in part, on a maximum temperature of the first TSC during the partially curing and on an elapsed time that an actual temperature of the first TSC is greater than a threshold temperature. The methods further include combining the first partially cured TSC with the second TSC to define a partially cured TSC assembly and heating the partially cured TSC assembly to bond the first partially cured TSC to the second TSC, cure the partially cured TSC assembly, and produce a cured composite part.
COMPOSITE PRODUCT WITH JUNCTION STRUCTURE
A composite product having a junction structure includes a first unit formed of a composite material, a first connector formed of a metal and provided with one end inserted into one end of the first unit and formed integrally with the first unit and another end extending outwards from the first unit, a second unit formed of a composite material, and a second connector formed of a metal and provided with one end inserted into one end of the second unit and formed integrally with the second unit and another end extending outwards from the second unit, wherein the other end of the first connector and the other end of the second connector are joined and fixed by welding under a condition that the ends of the first unit and the second unit are opposite each other adjacently.
BONDED STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BONDED STRUCTURE
A bonded structure is made of a first member and a second member which are bonded to each other. At least one bore having an opening is formed in a surface of the first member, and the second member is filled in the bore of the first member. The bore is defined by a diameter-increasing portion whose opening size increases in a depth direction from a surface side toward a bottom of the first member, and a first diameter-decreasing portion whose opening size decreases in the depth direction from the surface side toward the bottom. The diameter-increasing portion is formed on the surface side, and the first diameter-decreasing portion is formed on a bottom side.
Methods for thermal welding of wind turbine blades
Disclosed herein are methods, devices, and systems for manufacturing wind turbine blades which in some instances require using new blade joint designs. The blade joint designs described herein may allow for contact in places where welds will be made, which allows for existing manufacturing tolerances to be used while still enabling the use of thermal welding for wind turbine blades.
RESISTANCE WELDING METHODS AND APPARATUS
Disclosed is a method of resistance welding between composite articles. A conductive element is provided between faying surfaces, having a plurality of lower resistivity electrode portions spaced apart along the length of the contact area between the composite articles. The electrode portions can be used to spot weld across the electrode portions, and along a longitudinal portion of the conductive element between the electrode portions by application of an electrical current. Also disclosed are apparatus for use in the resistance welding methods and composite articles and structures and elements incorporating the conductive element.
Peel ply for surface preparation and bonding method using the same
A method for surface preparation of a composite substrate prior to adhesive bonding. The surface preparation method includes applying a resin-containing peel ply onto a composite substrate, followed by co-curing. The resin-containing peel ply contains a non-removable textile carrier and a removable woven fabric embedded therein. After co-curing, the peel ply is removed from the composite substrate such that the removable woven fabric is removed but the non-removable textile carrier and a film of residual resin remain on the composite substrate, thereby creating a modified, bondable surface on the composite substrate. The composite substrate with the modified surface can be bonded to another composite substrate, whereby the textile carrier remains an integrated part of the final bonded structure.
