Ultrasonic welding is performed by passing a first sheet layer, a second sheet layer, and an elastic film interposed therebetween in a stretched state in a machine direction between an anvil roll having a large number of protrusions and an ultrasonic horn. The anvil roll includes a region having the protrusions and in the region. A site, in which welding is performed by one ultrasonic horn, has a portion in which an area rate of the protrusions changes in a roll circumferential direction and a roll length direction. A difference between a maximum value and a minimum value in a change of the area rate of the protrusions in the roll circumferential direction is 4.5% or less, and a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value in a change of the area rate of the protrusions in the roll length direction is 1.5% or less.

Provided is a production method for a freshness-keeping bag capable of reducing the inflow of oxygen from the outside of the bag to a very low level, and thereby keeping the freshness of a content thereof for a long period of time. The present invention provides a method for producing a freshness-keeping bag formed of a film, wherein the freshness-keeping bag has a band-shaped joining region in which two ends of the film are overlapped and joined together, the joining region comprising a plurality of joined parts in which the two ends of the film are joined together, and a non-joined part which is located between adjacent ones of the joined parts and in which the overlapped ends of the film are not joined together, the non-joined part composing a non-linear ventilation passage communicating between an internal space of the bag and the outside of the bag, the method comprising the step of forming the joined parts by ultrasonic welding, wherein the step of forming the joined parts includes continuously forming the joined parts in the film, while rotating a disk-shaped ultrasonic welding anvil with respect to the film, wherein the ultrasonic welding anvil has a plurality of protrusions formed on an outer periphery thereof continuously at given intervals and correspondingly to the configuration of the joined parts of the bag.

FILMS AND BAGS WITH VISUALLY DISTINCT REGIONS

One or more implementations of a multi-layer film include a first layer non-continuously bonded to a second pigmented layer. The multi-layer film includes an unexpected appearance differing from the appearance of the pigmented layer. In one or more embodiments, the multi-layer film includes a metallic appearance despite the pigmented layer being devoid of metallic pigment. The multi-layer film also includes areas that are visually distinct from areas of the film with the unexpected appearance. The visually-distinct areas comprise areas in which the first layer non-continuously is in intimate contact with the second pigmented layer. The visually-distinct areas have the appearance of the pigmented layer or another appearance. One or more implementations also include methods of making multi-layer films and bags with an unexpected appearance and visually-distinct areas.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing absorbent sanitary products and an absorbent sanitary product

A method for manufacturing absorbent sanitary products, comprising the steps of: forming a first and a second continuous elastic band, which are movable parallel to each other in a machine direction, fixing a plurality of absorbent panels between said first and second continuous elastic bands, arranged in a direction transverse to the machine direction, and spaced apart in said machine direction, wherein each of said elastic bands is formed by means of a method comprising the steps of: continuously feeding a plurality of tensioned elastic threads (30) in said machine direction, continuously feeding a pair of non-elastic webs arranged on opposite sides of said plurality of elastic threads, welding said pair of non-elastic webs to each other by means of a welding pattern comprising anchoring welds and/or containing and guiding welds.

Servo-driven ultrasonic welding system and method for welding to a thin part without read-through

An ultrasonic welding method for joining a first thermoplastic part and a second thermoplastic part without causing visible read-through on an exposed surface of the second part. The method includes arranging the first part on an inner surface of the second part. The inner surface is opposite the exposed surface. The first part has an interface portion contacting the inner surface. The method includes causing a horn of an ultrasonic welding stack to be pressed against the first part by applying ultrasonic energy oscillating at a frequency in a range of 45-70 kHz through the horn, to thereby join the first part and the second part together. The horn has at least one protruding distal portion configured to penetrate through the first part as the ultrasonic energy is imparted through the horn. The distal portion has a length longer than a thickness of the first part. A collapse distance of a weld formed at the interface portion is less than the thickness of the first part, to avoid read-through effects on the exposed surface of the second part.

Apparatus for sealing an edge of a material

An apparatus is described for securing an edge of the material to a support surface. A guide surface is positioned adjacent the edge to be secured. A weld head engages the edge of the material in a plurality of locations. A drive mechanism advances the weld head on the guide surface. The weld head engages the edge of the material and transfers energy to secure the edge of material in the desired position on the support surface.

In an underpants-type disposable diaper, three-dimensional gathers are provided on both sides in the width direction of an inner member. A fallen portion of each of the three-dimensional gather has a fallen non-stretchable portion to which a contraction force of gather elastic members does not act. A character representation is printed at a position in the fallen non-stretchable portion of the inner member, and this character representation is made visible from the inside of the diaper.

Heating device for a heating and sealing system

A protective packaging formation device is disclosed herein. The device includes an inflation assembly that directs fluid between first and second overlapping plies of a web material. The device also includes a sealing mechanism that includes an arcuate web-support surface. The web-support surface includes a heater that defines a heating zone that is operable to heat the plies to create a longitudinal heat seal that seals the first and second plies together as the web is driven over the heating zone in a downstream direction. The web-support surface also includes a cooling zone disposed downstream of the heating zone operable to allow the heated plies to cool at the longitudinal heat seal as the web is driven over the heating zone in a downstream direction, such that the cooled longitudinal heat seal retains the fluid between the plies.
